DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Stays informed and knowledgeable of all credit union rates, fees, products, and promotions to assist the members with financial needs. Actively cross-sells products and services.
Provides information to members concerning different types of consumer loans, credit cards, terms, interest rates, and documentation needed for the loan.
Completes teller transactions and works teller line as needed daily.
Conduct financial planning discussions to uncover needs and make adequate recommendations by offering appropriate products, services, and guidance to achieve their personal financial goals.
Educates members on technology and digital solutions offered by Cornerstone FCU.
Actively refer members to Mortgages, Investments, and other solutions offered by Cornerstone FCU.
Processes loan applications in person, by phone, by mail, and through online channels. Evaluates applications for all required information, informing the applicant of any additional documentation needed. Audits and scans loan documents.
Cross-sells and promotes CFCU financial services including payment protection, gap, and warranty options.
Completes all required Department of Motor Vehicle and Secretary of State documents, including securing/filing liens and titles.
Monitors loan queue and stays in communication with Centralized Lending for loans in progress.
Processes member transactions, including, but not limited to, deposits, loan payments, cashier's checks, transfers, check cashing, withdrawals, and bank-to-bank wires each day during assigned time slot or as needed.
Proofs, examines and verifies documents for endorsements and negotiability to ensure safe practices are followed. Detects and resolves discrepancies.
Is alert and aware to help prevent fraudulent activity or errors that would result in a loss to the credit union.
Opens and closes accounts, creates debit cards, and orders checks. Completes various forms associated with account ownership and member authorizations.
Stays informed and knowledgeable about IRA and Business Accounts and assists members with opening these types of accounts.
Balances daily transactions and verifies cash and check totals. Investigates and resolve out-of-balance conditions. Purchases and sells funds to the vault as needed to keep cash drawer at required levels.
Understands and adheres to all applicable banking regulations and CFCU policies and procedures.
Responds to member questions and direct them to other staff as needed.
Attends required training and department meetings as directed by the Branch Manager and Training Manager.
Keeps work area clean, secure, and well-maintained.
Ensures all required documents are imaged.
Ensures confidentially of all sensitive information including members' data.
Abides by all security and robbery procedures.
Assists with training other staff members as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college or specialized financial services training is preferred.
Experience
One year in the financial service industry and/or lending experience. A minimum of one year of customer service and/or sales experience with cash handling is required. Lending experience is desired.
Physical, mental and visual requirements
The duties of this job are varied and are primarily designed to accommodate members. To efficiently meet the service needs of members, the job often requires the ability to alternate between standing, sitting and walking. Many of the duties are performed with a personal computer and require manual dexterity and accurate visual observation. Manual dexterity is also needed to quickly and accurately handle cash and essential documents. Excellent verbal and audio communication skills are needed to serve the members. The volume and nature of the duties of this job require the physical and mental stamina to withstand occasional periods of high stress.

POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for origination of mortgage loan products as offered through the mortgage loan department. Conducts initial pre-qualification interviews and prepares loan application packages and necessary documentation, acting as liaison to branch staff by conducting training in the same. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Generate new mortgage loan clients for the Credit Union and new mortgage loans from existing clients of the Credit Union.
Research, visit, call, contact, network and communicate with existing and prospective customers of the Credit Union - and referral sources of the same - regarding their financial and mortgage-related needs and/or opportunities for sales. Such should usually be done in-person with the specific design to develop borrower leads.
Establish and maintain effective and professional business relations with Credit Union members, Realtors, building professionals and other potential sources of business. Maintain, project, and protect the Credit Union's professional reputation.
Intentionally, strategically and professionally market Credit Union products and services to existing and prospective customers and/or referral sources. Promptly answer questions, respond to requests, and resolve problems related to any product or service provided by the Credit Union, particularly those pertaining to mortgage loans. Take advantage of opportunities to cross-sell the Credit Union's products and services.
Perform these functions on a regular basis, no less than every work week, and most often outside the Credit Union's place of business.
Effectively and professionally complete other loan origination functions, incidental to the acquisition of additional business.
Interview, take applications, and process preliminary documentation on loan requests. Discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from members and potential customers. Essential Duties:
Originate mortgage loans to achieve production goals.

Manage pipeline from origination through closing and complete required management reports.

Coordinate and conduct home-buying training seminars for potential CRA and multicultural origination mortgage applicants.

Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in the area of community and diversity mortgage loan origination.
Working knowledge of FHA, conventional and governmental lending guidelines; federal lending regulations; CRA, Multicultural and HUD income guidelines.
Must have competent computer skills.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must have competent skills in organizational and time management along with the ability to multi-task.
Licenses/Certifications: must be eligible to register with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)
