Repairs or replaces all defective parts, adjusts clearances and tolerances, and checks equipment operation by observing pressure and oil gages, and noting abnormal sounds and other unusual occurrences. Diagnoses trouble and makes corrective repairs. Working from blueprint, pattern or design drawing, lays out, sets up and performs machining operations on various machine tools, working to exact tolerances. Repairs, replaces and fits bearings of rotating equipment. Works with various grades and types of steel, alloys, and other metals.
