A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LOGISTICS CONSULTANT

As a Logistics Consultant, you are involved in sales, customer service, and the management of your customer’s freight needs. You collaborate with carrier partners and shippers alike, overseeing the full lifecycle of every shipment in your given book of business. By providing first in class customer service, you develop long-term relationships with customers. You manage the movement of your clients’ goods, ensuring that they are picked up, transported safely, and delivered on time according to the clients’ expectations. You function as the liaison between clients, carriers, shippers, and receivers.

In order to maintain market competitive pricing, you conduct contract negotiations. You collaborate with team members on pricing strategies and problem-solving. To build a portfolio of clients, you perform a high volume of “cold-calling.” Staying up to date on market conditions and technology through internal and external training is an essential component to your success. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* This position requires five (5) or more years' work experience.
* Knowledge and experience with DoD/Army logistics and sustainment operations.
* Strong quantitative skills, including the ability to use spreadsheet, database, and project management software.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire and apply domain-specific expertise through on-the-job training and professional development training.
* Superior communication skills, both oral and written.
* Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
