Logistics engineer job description

BRP Marine is seeking a Logistics Engineer to help identify opportunities for improvement in the supply chain and maintain open communications with all parties involved. This role will optimize transportation costs by identifying cubic and packaging space waste and will work closely with internal logistics, suppliers, 3PL and transport companies in order to correct inefficient processes and routes.
Responsibilities:

* Maintain open communication, influence and interact with other departments for implementation
* Take the lead on material transport optimization and packaging improvement projects
* Improve process in order to achieve maximum efficiency, optimize warehouse footprint, and reduce external warehousing expenditures
* Improve inventory accuracy and reduce working capital expenses
* Responsible for budget management
* Analyze, optimize, and implement material manufacturing controls and logistics equipment
* Support materials supply management and supervisors in continuous improvement projects

Required Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

* 1+ year related experience in logistics, supply chain or manufacturing operations
* Advanced working knowledge of MS office software

Preferred Experience/Skills/Knowledge:

* Engineering degree - Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical preferred
* Ability and interest to solve complex, interactive problems
* Experience with SAP or similar
* Proficient knowledge of computer-aided design tools such as AutoCAD, Creo PTC
* Coursework or experience with LEAN or flexible manufacturing methods preferred
* Understanding of data collection and analysis tool (Matlab, Python, Visual Basic, etc)
* Able to successfully manage a tight time-line project

CACI is seeking a cleared On Site Logistics Engineer- Navy in Norfolk, VA Single Point of Entry for all ships, Port Engineers, and other interested parties in all homeports for all Naval ships Class Common Equipment (CCE) related issues. tracking, Issuing, and custodial support for the CCE Program. What You'll Get to Do:

* Arrange for excess material carried in CCE to be issued and tracked for supply support.
* Work closely with HII Ingalls and various planning yards to identify material carried in CCE, that could be used to support repairs on battle damaged ships and long lead time repair items, to reduced repair time.
* Provided a list of different NSN's that were going to be obsolete as a result of upgrades to various ships class function. Work with NAVSUPP WSS to ensure that the stock avail in CCE was considered when ordering for supply system stock, to ensured excess stock is not carried.
* Provided input each FY on new items to be carried in CCE, based on the new equipment being installed on ships in support of supply system management. Also certain items that the system will not carry. This material has had a significant impact on fleet reediness.
* Assist the Logistics Management Analyst Combatant Homeport Engineering Team (CHET), to assist ships in identifying and locating various parts required to make repairs to ship board equipment.
