Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections on all vehicles. Provides written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) post trip or shift. Ensure all potential safety defects are reported to the Transportation Supervisor. Responsible for ensuring all necessary paperwork for the transfer of inmates/detainees in accordance with LaSalle Corrections Transport, LLC. (LCT, LLC.) and LaSalle Corrections policies, procedures, and contractual agreements. Provide custody safety and security of offenders/detainees. Responsible for the transfer of offenders/detainees from one agency to another. Read, review, and properly apply information found in inmate records which is related to the inmates' health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel. Shall obey all applicable traffic laws, drive the posted speed limits, and must wear safety belts. All drivers will drive facility vehicles in a safe and defensive manner according to policy and procedures. Ensure the sanitation of transport vehicles by cleaning after every transfer; sink, toilet, lavatory and adequately maintain a log. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices. Perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. The City of Dunwoody Police Department is currently accepting applications for a Prisoner Transport Officer. This position is responsible for transporting prisoners from the arrest site to the DeKalb County jail and from the DeKalb County jail to the City of Dunwoody Municipal Court and other assigned locations as needed. This position will also provide administrative support to the police department clerical staff as assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Picks up and transports prisoners to and from DeKalb County jail, other City/County jails, or City of Dunwoody Municipal Court as assigned. • Picks up and transports prisoners to and from DeKalb County jail, other City/County jails, or City of Dunwoody Municipal Court as assigned. • Transports prisoners from jail facility to doctor/hospital as assigned. Duties include: • Taking “walk-in” reports from citizens and process as required. • Completing all prisoner intake paperwork. • Providing assistance in filing and retrieving police records as assigned. • Provides support in the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) as needed; monitors real-time surveillance feeds to detect and respond to criminal activities, emergencies, or suspicious behavior. • Coordinates with law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and other relevant parties to provide timely and accurate information for crime prevention and resolution in the RTCC. • Assists Fleet Manager with fleet maintenance and associated equipment maintenance. • Assists with maintenance of departmental equipment, excluding firearms. • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of the job. Complete preventive maintenance of equipment and ensure readiness of restraints, weapons, OIC kits, vehicles, etc. Ensure effective management and control of resources to include inmate/detainee and/or resident medications and property. Maintain appropriate relationships and communications when dealing with fellow staff members, all customer agencies and inmates, detainees and/or residents. Application of restraints and the Use of Force will be strictly followed according to TCA policies and customer contract requirements. Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned. Must achieve and maintain Officer in Charge (OIC) certification to be eligible for assignment as an AOIC.
