QUALIFICATIONS:
Class A or Class B CDL and clean driving record
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (bags of cement, concrete or plywood)
Applicant must be able to pass an initial physical examination, drug screen, and background check.
Must be able to pass random drug tests as required by the DOT.
Applicant MUST be mechanically inclined. (We travel to, and if something goes wrong, you need to be able to identify the problem and, if easy, fix it)
Proficient understanding and execution of safe driving practices, including commercial driving laws and weigh station stops.
Solid understanding of driving directions and ability to use a map, GPS, or map program on a smart smartphone. (we give you an address you need to be able to navigate there safely using your cell phone or Commercial GPS)
Good with computers: Must fill out computer-based forms (Word/Excel), save them, and email them. (Every day you would be required to fill out a Word document, then be able to navigate through the laptop to save the document and create folders. so, really just basic knowledge of computers, but the more you know, the better)
Applicants must be able to learn how to operate the CPT (Cone Penetrometer Testing) system. We will train them. (Applicants should be quick learners and comfortable with computers.)
40-Hour OSHA preferred.
The applicant must be able to pass security clearance for military bases, prisons, jails, airports, and schools. Because of this, the applicant cannot have a felony criminal record.
MUST be able to get to work on time with an early morning start, most of the time, you will get to the office around 5:00-6:00 am to be on the job site at 7:00-8:00 am.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Perform daily inspections on the CPT rig, maintain required paperwork for the vehicle, keep electronic driving logs accurate, and keep accurate and complete records overall.
Drive Cone Penetrometer Testing rig to various sites. Some sites require spending the night out of town (the company pays all expenses).
Perform CPT testing on site. Testing occurs inside the "office" on the rig.
Perform and be mindful of safety while driving and on-site.
Using safe work practices, load and unload materials at the shop and job site.
Upload data daily from the site.
Fix equipment on down days, so have to be comfortable turning a wrench.
Interact professionally with clients (engineers/geologists).
Keep vehicles and shop tidy and neat.
DETAILS:
Full-Time Position (overtime/double-time possible weekly).
Due to the nature of projects, work on Saturdays or Sundays (rare) will happen occasionally.
How much can you expect to earn? Your wage will vary depending on your experience and what you put into the job. Depending on experience, you will earn between $75,000-$100,000 a year. Experience can include skills like welding, mechanics, engineering, and geology.
The rig is based in Hayward CA, and must have reliable transportation to the office/yard.
We will train new hires on the CPT testing aspect of the job. (They should be quick learners and comfortable with computers.)
The company pays for hotels and gas, and a per diem ($75) is provided for nights out of town.
We will pay for other certifications as they are needed. (TWIC/RR/OXY etc)

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:**
* Operators are responsible for running process units safely, in compliance, reliably and efficiently during each shift. All operations are carefully controlled to meet and maintain operating targets established in a daily operating plan. Continuous regulatory compliance is maintained by properly monitoring and controlling critical operations. Other primary responsibilities include:
* Completes unit equipment inspection rounds several times each shift to ensure it is operating safely reliably, and efficiently. Completes specific equipment checks as required and take scheduled samples. Also investigates and corrects unusual conditions such as noise, odors, leaks, hot or vibrating equipment, etc.
* Identifies maintenance work and submits electronic work requests. Helps prioritize maintenance. Routinely performs minor maintenance as scheduled or needed and maintains good housekeeping.
* Plans, prepares, and facilitates the safe turnover of equipment for maintenance. Prepares work packages and work permits ahead of scheduled maintenance. Completes job walks with mechanical crews to ensure task alignment and safety. Additionally, reviews all completed maintenance jobs to ensure the work is complete and the job site clean, prior to signing off work orders.
* Adjusts unit operations as required to meet operating targets and stable/efficient operations. Directly coordinates operations with upstream and downstream units, while keeping shift supervision updated on all significant variances from operating plans or targets. Changes, upsets, problems (actual or potential) are also communicated to all potentially affected units and shift supervision.
* Routinely troubleshoots and handles upsets or off-target variances. Requests additional assistance from shift supervision when unable to handle the upset within the crew's capability.
* Routinely trains on the off shifts for compliance, qualification, emergency, and enhancement training. Helps develop and maintain operating procedures.
* Maintains thorough, concise and complete unit logs of all significant operation changes, priority status, and problems. This information is thoroughly reviewed with relieving operator at shift change to ensure the new shift fully understands the status of the units.
* Responds immediately to all unit emergencies. Ensures safety of all personnel in the area, isolates and mitigates high-risk areas and immediately activates unit emergency equipment.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
* High School graduate or GED equivalent, required.

* Previous experience as an operator or maintenance mechanic in a refinery, chemical process plant or power plant preferred but not required.
**SKILLS:**
