The right candidate will: Oversee all material that physically flows through the plant, from receiving material, storage locations throughout facility and shipping out. Ensures a smooth and consistent operation so parts and supplies are distributed to corresponding departments in an effective and efficient manner to satisfy customer requirements. Excellent leadership skills to facilitate and direct logistical specialists, as well as, critical thinking to implement continuous improvement projects are a MUST! Essentials of role: implement cost reduction through process improvements, interfacing with customers to answer questions and resolve open issues, achievement of high level customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, shipping, kitting, cycle counting and identifying, dispatching and assuring quality of good. Supervision of staffing needs and assignments with demonstrated leadership skills and excellent time management and organization. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Education requirements: Bachelor's Degree, in Business preferred. Experience in a manufacturing environment practicing lean practices. Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, preferably MAX, inventory control, shipping/invoicing and ship floor modues. Strong computer skills, MS office are a must. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, shippers, receivers, and transportation providers by phone and e-mail, using ERP/API/EDI/TMS platforms for rate negotiation, load scheduling, coordination, and executing proper follow-up to obtain status updates on over-the-road logistics shipments, including fleet management, equipment dispatch, routing, coordination of special last minute shipping request with carriers, and expediting/rescheduling orders as needed while providing exceptional customer service. -Enter customer order details on ERP/EDI/API/TMS accurately and promptly upon receipt to schedule customer orders for pickup and delivery according to the customer and logistics department SOPs as applicable. -Oversee shipment progress, monitor scheduled shipment dates to ensure timely delivery, and expedite as needed, contacting appropriate freight carriers and resolving any issues that arise during transportation. -Create, process, and verify shipping documents to detect discrepancies, including maintaining accurate shipping and receiving records. -Improve efficiency by finding optimal routes and negotiating with carriers for favorable rates. -Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in the load handling process. -Document customer/provider feedback and complaints. Escalate any unresolved situations to the designated team leader for further follow-up and resolution. -Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and the department's load handling guidelines. -Verify all inbound and outbound freight invoices are correct, coded, and submitted to accounting for load closing, vendor payment, and customer invoicing purposes. The dispatcher is responsible for ensuring that drivers operate economically sound and safe and to maintain the company image of honesty and integrity * Supervise drivers (Instruct drivers on day-by-day activities) * Work out problems with drivers through the proper corrective action procedures. * Keep your supervisor and the terminal manager current on all personnel issues. * Manage driver utilization wisely. * Ensure drivers are given all information needed to properly fill out their paperwork and properly meet our customers needs. * Ensure adequate drivers are available to meet customer needs. * Ensure drivers have been properly trained before they are dispatched on a load. * Ensure all drivers are treated fair and equal. * Maintain a good working relationship with customers, co-workers, terminal managers, employees, and the general public. * Call customers regularly to ensure customer satisfaction. * Keep customer up to date on their load information. * Keep your supervisor informed about any and all customer service problems or complaints. * Work with new customers to develop new business and growth. * Manage inventories as required. * Ensure loads are dispatched in a profitable manner, minimize deadhead miles, etc. * Minimize driver down time * Control accessorial driver pay. * Eliminate wasteful activities and spending. * Other projects/duties as assigned by dispatch supervisor, the general manager, or vice-president of operations. Job Requirements High School degree or GED required. Dispatch experience in terminal operations or related industry experience is preferred.
