The Logistics Specialist role is responsible for managing the flow of goods from suppliers to the WPI factory, back out to value-add suppliers, and ultimately then on to end customers. This is accomplished by coordinating transportation, tracking shipments, understanding inventory positions, being connected to manufacturing output, analyzing logistics data, developing strategic relationships with carriers, and collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to applicable regulations. The goal is to optimize supply chain efficiency and manage all costs associated with transportation. Key Responsibilities Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers Develop forecasting plans to ensure sufficient capacity at carriers Establish priorities, track shipments real-time, and ensure availability of capable providers Keep records of all shipments (Packing Lists, BOLs, receipt confirmations) Maintain shipping schedules and hit deadlines for rush shipments Monitor and report on supply chain performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, actual spend vs target, and cost savings Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance Drive creation of packaging requirements and lead the sourcing of these materials Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers Select carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteria Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, and customer issues Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify cost optimization opportunities Interpret trends and analyze and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the organization to aid customer service and cost improvements Ensure IT systems in place are effective, maintained and accurate Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and stay updated on industry standards Location / Hours On site in Columbus, OH.
