LOMA company history timeline
The Pellatts moved to their farm in King township in 1924.
His service of fifty years with the Queen’s Own Rifles was celebrated on June 27, 1926 with a march past 500 men complete with the circling overhead of three military planes.
He had a successful student by the name of Jack C. Barstow who took his own chance and also soared over Point Loma for more than 15 hours in 1930 to establish an unofficial world record for soaring endurance.
Instead The Kiwanis Club of West Toronto began operating Casa Loma as a tourist attraction in 1937.
When Sir Henry Pellatt died on March 8, 1939, thousands lined Toronto streets to witness his funeral procession.
Back in 1969, Newell Dunford sold their metal detection business to focus on the company’s main activities.
Loma Linda became an incorporated city in 1970, and today is a thriving community with a population of around 22,000.
While it began in Pasadena, the university was moved to Point Loma in 1973.
And a lot of people call Point Loma home; an estimated 47,981 (including Sunset Cliffs), according to the 2010 US Census take up residence here.
In August 2011, the new Casa Loma Corporation was formed.
