JOB SUMMARY
The Department Chemistry and Biochemistry at California State University, San Bernardino is seeking part-time graduate student applications from a diverse group of qualified individuals for both our San Bernardino Campus (SBC) as well as our Palm Desert Campus (PDC). The department is seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach in any of our subject areas: General Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry. Candidates in this position will be tasked with teaching labs or discussions which are foundational level courses while maintaining an active dialogue with the coordinator. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who have professional capabilities.
Workload can be as little as one course up to a maximum of 15 WTU.
This is a pool of graduate students for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term. TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry prides itself on the quality of the instruction it provides, and the personal attention given to its students. Most classes are deliberately kept to a moderate size, so students can better interact with the instructor. General chemistry lecture classes are usually capped at 96, while upper division classes are anywhere between 10-72 students. Laboratory classes are typically 24 for general chemistry, and 16-20 or less for most upper division classes. The upper division labs are mostly taught by permanent faculty, and the lower division laboratories are mostly taught by the part-time lecturers and a few teaching associates from the MSES program. Good advice is considered a key aspect to academic progress at CSUSB, and chemistry faculty advisors are available for consultation. Each student majoring in chemistry or biochemistry will be required to see an advisor at least once each year to ensure they are on track for graduation.
The Department also features state-of-the-industry laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Laboratory bench experience includes ready access to computers for simulation and recording purposes. There are laboratory areas dedicated for laboratory courses as well as research activities.

You can teach a maximum of 5 classes per week, or one class per day, based on your availability.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Promote and encourage students to engage in the HPAC advising process by providing an overview of HPAC services, academic departments, and student organizations.
Conduct pre-health advising drop-in appointments and maintain timely delivery of services.
Educate students on the importance of research, service learning, volunteer work, their worth, and how to seek and/or utilize resources effectively.
Actively develop a working knowledge of campus referral sources in the areas of career exploration, graduate school, service learning, volunteer work, and internships.
Gather up-to-date information for a variety of academic majors and career fields for the HPAC resource newsletter and website.
Refer students to the HPAC Coordinator, Career/Academic Advisors, and campus resources and/or services when assistance is needed beyond the scope of the Pre-Health Student Assistant.
Provide assistance to students, staff, and recruiters during center associated events.
Manage and update social media platforms with event announcements, workshops, and informational content, increasing student engagement and participation.
Support event planning and execution, providing assistance to students, staff, and external recruiters during workshops, career fairs, and information sessions.
Participate in HPAC appointments and presentations to continuously improve advising skills and stay current on best practices.
Shadow HPAC appointments and presentations.
Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, provide customer service to employers and students, and assist staff with day-to-day projects and other duties as assigned/needed.

Student Mentor Overview Duties

Growing Words, Speech and Language Therapy Inc., located in Corona, California, is a private practice focused on delivering outstanding speech and language services to children and families. Key Responsibilities
Provide speech and language therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
Implement the plan of care and therapeutic activities as designed by the SLP to address communication goals.
Collect and record accurate data on client performance during therapy sessions.
Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
Assist in the preparation and organization of therapy materials and activities.
Document client progress and submit session notes for SLP review.
Assist in maintaining therapy spaces, equipment, and supplies in an orderly and safe manner.
