Following a 1958 evaluation, accrediting officials, instead of recommending consolidation as it had done many times before, now required it.
Loma Linda was in business! The present 11-story Loma Linda University Medical Center opened on July 9, 1967, an outgrowth of the original Sanitarium on the hill.
Loma Linda became an incorporated city in 1970, and today is a thriving community with a population of around 22,000.
