The Child Development Center Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking a qualified individual for a current opportunity as a Child Care Assistant! Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision, provides vocational instruction support in the electrical/electronics trades program, including networking and robotics; prepares equipment, materials, supplies and training aids for classroom instruction and student laboratory assignments; provides instruction and assists students in the proper use and operation of computer and shop equipment and tools; maintains a clean, safe and orderly learning environment; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Vocational Instructional Technician - Electrical/Electronics is responsible for assisting in maintaining, operating and providing support for the District's electrical, electronics, networking and robotics instructional program, including ordering and maintaining an inventory of equipment, tools, supplies and materials and preparing equipment, materials, tools and training aids for class instruction, demonstrations and student laboratory exercises. Incumbents perform a variety of support functions to assist faculty in the general operation of the electrical/electronics instructional program and may supervise the work of assigned work study students. Job Duties
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:

10. Conduct investigations of various crimes committed; interview suspects. victims and witnesses in the field; make arrests as necessary; prepare reports on arrests, burglaries, disturbances and unusual circumstances observed.
11. Make felony/misdemeanor/warrant arrests as necessary which includes transporting and booking suspects as well as properly preparing a San Francisco Police Department Incident Report.
12. Assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors by providing directions and responding to questions and inquiries; provide service escorts for any person requiring assistance.
13. Respond to faculty, staff and student complaints in potentially hostile situations; intervene and mediate in disturbances and disputes.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
This classification may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, standing, running or sitting for prolonged periods of time; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; possible exposure to physical injury and other dangers inherent in police work. Must possess satisfactory hearing capabilities and visual acuity of at least 20/100 correctable to at least 20/30 in each eye. Officers are required to wear police uniforms, a bullet proof vests, and required police gear.
Officers are required to work flexible shifts, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Officers may be assigned to any of the District campuses under the department policy and/or at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
The department currently operates two shifts: Day shift and swing shift. Shifts are 5 days/8 hours per day or 4 days/10 hours per day; 7 days a week.

Education:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination). AND
Experience:
One (1) year of experience as a police officer, member of a military police unit or other work involving the safeguarding of life and property; AND

2. Possession of a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate (issued by California Department of Justice, Commission of Peace Officers Standards and Training) will be required prior to field work assignment and within twelve (12) months of hire date, as a condition of employment.

Benefits
1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days during spring break. Eligible school-term-only (STO) employees who are not scheduled to work the designated days between Christmas and New Year's Day shall be granted three (3) paid days off to be scheduled by mutual agreement between the employee and supervisor. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

9. Inspects facilities and buildings for damage and maintenance needs; recommends repairs as necessary.
10. Removes graffiti and repairs damage to paint.

13. Estimates labor, materials, and equipment needed for assigned projects; monitors inventory levels of materials and equipment; orders, receives, and maintains inventory of materials and equipment as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds (Required).
2. Earned Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus two years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

Earned Associate Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent foreign degree, plus six years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; OR THE EQUIVALENT;
OR
Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Health and Physical Care Services and Related Technologies (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).

Desirable Qualifications
1. Current certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
2. Previous teaching experience in a health information administration (HIA) or health information technology (HIT) program.
3. Three or more years of experience in a health information management (HIM) position or related department.
4. Evidence of management experience in HIM or related departments in the health care setting with effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Demonstrated strength in teaching courses in specific content areas as delineated by the American Health Information Association (AHIMA) and the Commission on Accreditation for health Information and Informatics Education Management (CAHIIM).
6. Ability to teach on-line HIM courses.
7. Experience with and commitment to working with culturally and ethnically diverse groups.
8. Evidence of successful instructional experience at the university or college level using culturally responsive pedagogy.
9. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
