Product Managers are the core of the company's product and business leadership, working closely with our Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Business Development and Finance teams to set strategy for, define, design, and directly manage nearly all aspects of our technology and products and their impact on our business. As a Principal Product Manager, you'll be responsible for owning and managing several key product areas in our SSE portfolio. We are seeking a dedicated person to join our team and grow with us as we work towards our vision: a day when every resident of the Midpeninsula can step outside to move, play, and thrive under the shade of healthy trees. Position Summary Under the direction of the Tree Programs Manager, the Tree Care Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Canopy's fieldwork, tracking it, and contributing to reporting needs. The candidate will perform regular tree care activities and support tree planting and stewardship workdays throughout the year. The ideal candidate will be able to perform young tree care activities outdoors on a regular basis, effectively balancing both office work and fieldwork, and collaborate on shared goals with teammates. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of urban forestry, to work collaboratively with others, and to affect positive change in our communities and the environment. Duties and Responsibilities ● Perform young tree care for Canopy-planted trees on a regular basis, including mulching, watering, weeding, staking, pruning and replanting. ● Communicate with tree stewards and proactively coordinate and respond to tree care requests via phone calls, texts, email, and online tree care requests form. ● Provide tree stewards with thoughtful follow-up messages to their tree care visits with tips, recommendations, and resources, as needed. ● Input fieldwork data and track tree care work in Salesforce, TreePlotter, and the Tree Care Dashboard. Keep an updated list of trees cared for, shared with the Tree Programs Manager. ● Contribute to reporting needs. ● Monitor large project sites on a regular basis, and update staff on progress of these sites. ● Plan, organize, and execute volunteer workdays throughout the year. ● Meet city contract deliverables regarding tree care. ● Work with the Teen Urban Foresters to perform tree care. ● Develop a system to care for all trees across all communities that have planted trees within the last 3 years. ● Develop engaging tree care trainings for a variety of experience levels and abilities. ● Train and certify Canopy Tree Care Leaders. ● Support the Community Forestry Coordinators with assembling tools, delivering trees and materials to planting sites, setup before and cleanup after events, and leading small groups to plant trees. ● Help maintain materials at Canopy's storage yard, including organizing the tool shed and trailer, and ensuring the cleanliness of tools on a regular basis. ● Monitor tool/vehicle needs, vehicle maintenance, and cleaning, including Canopy trailers. ● Support tree pick-ups and deliveries from nurseries to the yard. **Page 2 of 3** ● Report program outcomes to communications and fundraising staff, clients, and funders. ● Occasionally assist with special events, education, and tablings/outreach. ● Help with special projects or tasks depending on skills and interests, as needed. Schedule This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The work week is Tuesday through Saturday, with occasional early mornings and evenings.
