**Nuclear FacilitiesEngineer 3 ($125,200 - $211,300)**
Within this job, successful candidates will have to opportunity to support the Laboratory's mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, power quality, power monitoring, critical power reliability/redundancy issues, modifying buildings, and developing new structures and equipment within and around the plutonium facility. Often in this role, engineers may perform engineering studies including short circuit, device coordination, equipment sizing, exterior lighting, fault current, arc flash for both medium and low voltage equipment, demolition, installation, upgrades, and repairs. Additionally successful candidates will be expected to qualify as a Cognitive System Engineer (CSE) on one or more Vital Safety Systems (VSS) that support LANL Nuclear Facilities.

**What You Will Do** The Plutonium FacilitiesEngineering Division (PFE-DO) and the Project Engineering Group (PFE-PE) at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) are seeking a Project Engineer! The Project Engineer is one of the few technical personnel involved through the entire lifespan of a project. The selected candidate will be expected to meet with customers and users of LANL's Plutonium Facility (PF-4) to understand and develop Statements of Need and Scopes of Work to resolve technical facility issues, enhance process or equipment/facility performance, and increase reliability of the Plutonium Facility. At the completion of the project, the Project Engineer will be responsible for close-out activities, collecting all documentation, test reports, designs, drawings, etc. generated during the lifespan of the project and compiling them in accordance with LANL's Document Control mandates.
The Project Engineer may be expected to work on projects both inside and outside the nuclear facility footprint. Projects can vary from modifications to accredited nuclear safety systems, to renovations of office spaces, and everything in between. Regardless of project size, complexity, duration, or cost, the selected candidate will be expected to be the primary champion and facilitator of all technical aspects of the project and will be responsible for the delivery and maintenance of high-quality technical design documentation throughout the entire life of the project.

Join our dynamic team as a Facilities Technologist and take the lead in operating and maintaining Sandia s cutting-edge building automation controls system! In this exciting role, you'll have the opportunity to make a real impact every day.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
* Craft innovative Building Automation System (BAS) programs that drive the operation of our facility systems, with a focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

Qualifications We Require
* High school diploma plus three (3) or more years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience in one or more of the following:
* Operation and troubleshooting of HVAC systems and associated equipment.
* BAS operation for the control and monitoring of HVAC and other facilities systems.
* Writing BAS programs for the control of HVAC systems and associated equipment such as boilers, chillers, air handlers, or comparable mechanical sub-systems.
* Ability to obtain and maintain an active DOE Q-level security clearance.
Qualifications We Desire
* Knowledge and understanding of commercial and industrial mechanical HVAC components and systems from small single zone air handlers up to and including large campus chilled and heating water generation plants.
* Familiarity with cleanroom and laboratory ventilation systems.
* Demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC DDC control systems, including configuration and setup of controllers, creation of databases and control programming, and troubleshooting/maintenance of system components.
* Experience with management level configuration of DDC front end interfaces and software.
* An excellent understanding of BAS software and hardware, control programming and logic, database management, graphics creation, or relevant experience with comparable equipment such as PLC-based control systems.
* Experience with computer networks, serial- and Ethernet-based communication protocols (especially BACnet), or relevant experience with computers and communication systems.
* Experience with Siemens APOGEE or DESIGO system software and PX and DXR series controllers and components.
* Experience in creating or reviewing BAS or comparable controls designs.
* An understanding of building energy auditing processes, HVAC system commissioning, or monitoring-based commissioning.
* Familiarity with smart building control concepts, advanced demand-based control strategies, and the latest ASHRAE HVAC standards.
* LEED, CEM/PEM/EMP, or CMVP certification, or similar energy- or facilities-related certifications.
About Our Team
Department 4844, Mechanical Services, operates and provides preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical systems associated with buildings at Sandia-NM. This department also provides heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) control, via the Facility Control System, to select buildings at Sandia-NM and Sandia-CA.
