    What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Technical Project Manager 2 or Technical Project Manager 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. The Operational Safety & Compliance Group (ORI-2) is seeking a highly motivated Technical Project Manager to assist with project deliverables, budget, and reporting. The selected candidate will support ORI-2's mission to reduce operational and programmatic risk at the Institutional and Weapons Production levels, through the application of continuous learning and the implementation of best-in-class safety and nuclear materials management program. As a Technical Project Manager (TPM) reporting to the First Line Manager (FLM) of the Intelligent Surveillance and Compliance team, you will provide technical project leadership related to the development, planning, and execution of projects within the team's scope. To manage projects effectively, the selected candidate will develop and maintain in-depth technical expertise for their assigned scope. This will include, but not be limited to: Technical Project Manager 2 ($96,100 - $159,000) Establish technical requirements to define successful project completion. Developing project deliverables, budgets, and detailed schedules. Identifying risks and mitigation strategies. Reporting project status and issues to Line and Program Management. Applying LEAN principles and techniques to develop process flows, procedures, tools, and training on new and existing processes. Technical Project Manager 3 ($115,500 - $194,900) In addition to the requirements listed above, at this level the TPM 3 will: Work cohesively with the FLM and ORI-2 Group Leader to develop reports for senior leadership on execution strategies, key performance indicators (KPIs), and group/team metrics. Negotiate work packages, and author funding proposals. Work directly with ORI-2 Staff, Line and Program Management to develop detailed work breakdown. Working closely with the FLM to define team structure and work assignments, collaboratively solve problems, remove obstacles, and identify continuous process improvement opportunities. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Project Management: Working knowledge of and demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions. Stakeholder Management: Ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel: building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflicts. Communication and Customer Interactions: Experience in developing and nurturing effective internal customer relationships, as well as excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Additional Requirements for Technical Project Manager 3 In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires: Project Management: Advanced knowledge in all aspects of project management of technical or operational work, including developing project plans and work packages; managing to scope, schedule, budget, and technical baselines; and documenting baseline reports and change control actions. Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to successfully plan, organize, lead, and monitor team efforts to completion. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel; building trust, gaining consensus, and resolving conflict. Communication and Customer Interactions: Demonstrated experience in developing and nurturing effective mid-level internal customer relationships, as well as excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Education and Experience for Technical Project Manager 2: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is preferred for this level. Education and Experience for Technical Project Manager 3: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. A Project Management Institute certification is desired for this level. Desired Qualifications: Experience with work breakdown structures. Experience working on classified networks. Experience tracking execution and budgets on small projects (approximately $1M). Possess knowledge of those concepts core to machine learning and automation. Working knowledge of regulatory and Laboratory requirements related to the assigned projects. Active DOE Q Clearance. Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information. HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, 712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
