Faculty members have access to a high-speed computer network with the latest desktop computers in the office. We have a Spitz A3P Star Projector in our Planetarium. In addition, we have a portable digital planetarium for outreach activities. The Department has a Meade LX-200 telescope, two Meade LX- 90 telescopes, and several smaller telescopes, as well as a CCD camera and CCD spectrometer. In addition, we have access to Lick Observatory telescopes and robotic telescopes from Skynet UNC for student research projects. The Department is developing its own multi-purpose classroom. Currently, we have access to the College computer laboratory-classrooms and multimedia classrooms for instruction. The successful candidate will be expected to use some or all of these resources, as appropriate to the assigned classes. The College is developing a campus-wide plan for multimedia and network technologies across the curriculum. Currently, all courses in the Department can be delivered as in-person, hybrid, and/or full online mode. However, we are much in need of a program to integrate image processing, networking, and multimedia.
