Lott company history timeline

1958

In 1958 a delegation from LARC convinced the county commissioners to place a levy on the ballot to raise funds to help educate children with mental retardation.

1959

Lott’s school in 1959 merged with a county program operated by the Child Welfare Board.

1961

In 1961, a 55 acre tract of land in south Toledo was selected as the site for a new school.

1962

Larc Lane School opened in 1962.

1965

In 1965, ground was broken for a new adult facility to be built across the street from Larc Lane School.

1967

The State of Ohio created county boards of mental retardation and developmental disabilities in 1967.

1971

Jay Shuer School in Oregon opened in 1971.

In 1971, individuals from Lucas County participated in the first Ohio Special Olympics, held in Cleveland.

1989

Miss Ella Suydam died at the homestead in 1989.

1991

The facility on Ashland Avenue was closed in 1991 when a new Adult Services Center/Lott Industries plant was opened on Holland Road in Maumee.

1992

Another not-for-profit corporation, Preferred Properties, was created in 1992 to manage the supported housing program.

1995

In September 1995, they began a four-year long-range planning process, resulting in the Wastewater Resource Management Plan.

2000

A new Intergovernmental Agreement was approved by the four LOTT partners (Lacey, Olympia, Tumwater, and Thurston County) in January 2000 to restructure LOTT and implement the plan.

She was inducted into the Toledo Civic Hall of Fame in 2000.

2002

In 2002, the functions of Community Living Options were incorporated into Board operations.

2004

In 2004, the first upgrade under the new plan occurred at the Budd Inlet Treatment Plant, with the addition of a sand filter system to produce reclaimed water.

2006

The same year, construction began on the Martin Way Reclaimed Water Plant, which began operation in 2006.

2010

LOTT opened its Regional Services Center building in 2010, located on the Budd Inlet Treatment Plant campus.

2016

In compliance with those directives, the Board ended its transportation services in 2016 and launched a series of steps that would separate Lott Industries from Board administration.
