Lovesac company history timeline

1995

After starting in 1995 selling iconic beanbag-style chairs for the budget-challenged college crowd, Lovesac has graduated along with its target customers.

Shawn Nelson turns his passion into a company and calls it Lovesac, after the original nylon sac he built in 1995.

2005

In 2005, Nelson won Fox's Rebel Billionaire reality show.

2006

The company relocated from Salt Lake City to Stamford, Connecticut in 2006, as it raised private-equity capital in the area.

2012

In 2012, Lovesac was named the fastest growing furniture company in the United States by Furniture Today magazine as well as recognized for being one of the top 100 furniture companies.

2018

Reporting sales of $101.8 million for the fiscal year ending February 4, 2018, it also can brag about being the fastest-growing furniture retailer on that coveted list, up nearly 34% from previous year.

Lovesac joined the Nasdaq stock exchange on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, trading under the symbol LOVE.

2020

According to founder Shawn David Nelson, Lovesac plans to move 75% of its production out of China by 2020, due to trade war tariffs.
