Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 AM-5:00 PM At Tews Company, we're partnering with a healthcare client to hire skilled Pharmacy Technicians - Data Entry who are passionate about improving patient access to affordable medications. This role focuses on accurate prescription processing and patient coordination, helping to create a smoother, more patient-friendly pharmacy experience.
What You'll Do
Accurately enter new and refill prescription orders.
Verify patient, prescriber, and medication details before processing.
Complete prior authorizations and work with insurance providers to ensure coverage.
Maintain accurate patient profiles, medication records, and documentation.
Submit claims, resolve rejections, and post payments.
Support pharmacists in reviewing and processing prescriptions.
Provide excellent customer service while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Perform quality assurance checks and follow all regulatory guidelines.
What We're Looking For
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Active Pharmacy Technician license/registration in good standing.
At least 1 year of pharmacy technician experience, ideally with a focus on data entry or specialty pharmacy.
1+ year of customer service experience.
Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, brand/generic drug names, and prescription processing.
Preferred:
2+ years of pharmacy technician experience in multiple functional areas (data entry, filling, inventory, etc.).
National certification (CPhT) through PTCB or other certifying agency.
Experience with insurance claims and pharmaceutical inventory systems.
Skills for Success

We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our incredible Affirming Care Pharmacy team in San Antonio, TX. Reporting to our Pharmacy Manager, the Registered Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing, filling, dispensing, shipping and checking prescription medications to our patients. In this role, you'll make an impact by:
Providing Patient Care & Support
Providing exceptional customer service to patients
Assisting patients across various communication platforms: phone, email, SMS and secure messaging
Navigating insurance challenges with patients and proactively identifying solutions
Creating and maintaining spreadsheets to track and monitor patient records
Supporting Prescription & Pharmacy Operations
Executing the end-to-end prescription process: preparing, filling, labelling, dispensing, packaging and shipping
Verifying prescription information is complete and accurate
Ensuring accuracy and safety by performing final checks on new and refill prescriptions, confirming each step in the dispensing process has been completed correctly
Maintaining an efficient, safe and tidy dispensary
Performing key administrative duties; managing a high volume of inbound and outbound calls, creating and updating patient profiles and maintaining internal pharmacy databases
Assisting with inventory management: performing inventory audits, managing packaging and pharmacy supplies, and coordinating medication orders with the Pharmacist
Ensuring every request is processed accurately and as per the Board of Pharmacy regulations
Collaborating with the Affirming Care team and telehealth partners
We need someone who has:
A license as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (in good standing) with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
1+ years of experience in community/mail-order pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
Flexibility to work different shifts, including potentially weekends and evenings
Knowledge and efficiency of all aspects of pharmacy software (data entry, billing, report generating, and troubleshooting)
A positive attitude, a strong sense of urgency and a team player mentality
Enjoyment in performing a variety of tasks daily and a fast-paced work environment
The ability to set priorities and manage time effectively, and is detail oriented
Active listening and strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Compensation:
$45,000 - $52,000 USD a year

The Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues.

* Requires an active, professional license, if required by state law, State Pharmacy Technician Certification or National Certification based on applicable state(s) requirements, to practice as a Pharmacy Technician within the scope of practice in a state or territory of the United States.

+ Adjudicating pharmacy claims, reviewing and resolving claim rejections; contacting insurance plans for assistance as needed.
+ Assists with product purchasing, inventory and equipment management as needed.
+ Ensures client specific materials are paired with order and prepare for shipment.
+ The technician assists in the shipping process by: selecting appropriate packing materials and packing method and generating shipping labels.
+ Prior to the end of their shift or as scheduled, clean dispensing area equipment and replenish workstation supplies.
+ Providing excellent customer service to patients, internal and external customers
+ Performs additional duties as assigned as related to the practice of pharmacy which do not require a pharmacist's professional judgement.
**Experience:**
+ Pharmacy experience, Understands drug terminology and therapies/services provided in specialty pharmacy.
+ Understands and can perform intermediate pharmaceutical calculations in order to obtain correct doses of medications.
+ Understands the broader organizational structure and the scope of services the company has to offer.
+ Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
+ Observes legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the confidentiality of patient and proprietary company information.
+ Understands and complies with HIPAA.
+ Participates in the process for assessing, managing, and reporting medication-related incidents and equipment error and/or failures.
+ Accurately completes quality assurance forms and forwards them to the supervising pharmacist.
+ In all activities, complies with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements.
+ Participates in on-call responsibilities of the pharmacy department if required

Maintaining the pharmacy clean room suite to 797 requirements
Documentation of IV admixture and clean room suite sterility testing
Complete order entry and refills under the supervision of the pharmacist
Inventory management and storage, complete appropriate documentation, such as labels, log sheets and reports
Participate in on call rotation as indicated by staffing and business needs
Have excellent written and verbal customer service skills and advanced computer skills in order to interact with key partners and patients
