Specific Responsibilities:
Nursing Care

Participates in maintaining accurate medical conditions, and the related archival responsibilities.
Performs mandated screening procedures for vision and hearing (requires state credentials as a screener).

Communication
Maintains communication with the teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the health and safety needs of students.

Completes and/or archives accident/incident reports for students/staff.
Compiles data for statistical purposes.
Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues.
Organization
File/archive copies of students' "Nurse's Pass" in individual health folders.
Maintains the daily environment of the health office facility and supplies.
Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
Performs other health or school related work as required.
Professional Development

Documenting in the medical record using the initials “NG” after the nurse graduate's name as credentials
Assisting the RegisteredNurse assigned to the patient with the assessment of the patient by monitoring parameters outlined by the RegisteredNurse in accordance with the Nursing Standards of Practice.
Identifying, recording, and reporting overt findings to the RegisteredNurse concerning the physical and mental condition of a patient in accordance with the Nursing Documentation policy.
Assisting the RegisteredNurse assigned to the patient with the implementation of nursing care by performing nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by the RegisteredNurse such as:
Performing patient assessments after the initial assessment or after the first assessment of the shift has been performed by the registerednurse
Assisting with indwelling and intermittent urinary bladder catheterizations by performing catheter insertion, catheter care and removal.

Performing routine patient care and administrative procedures on the unit such as dressing changes, calculating body intake and output measures and shift totals.
Assisting with patient admission and/or discharge by setting up special equipment and recording vital signs.
Assisting with intravenous therapy by gathering equipment for starting IV fluids, preparing the patient as directed by the RegisteredNurse and monitoring IV rate.
Assists the RegisteredNurse in patient status evaluation by reporting patient information such as vital signs or response to nursing actions such as pain management interventions.
Verbally reports to the nurse significant changes in patient's physical and cognitive condition.
Documents patient information such as vital signs, intake and output on appropriate forms promptly, clearly and completely as stipulated in the Nursing Documentation policy.
The nurse graduate may administer medications under the DIRECT supervision of an RN. The nurse graduate may NOT administer medications independently.
Performs CPR as needed.
Follows institutional infection control guidelines.
Follows/implements established institutional/unit policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors and other members of the health care team, demonstrating positive guest relations skills and treating patient information confidentially.
Performs general support services for the unit and patient which may include running unit errands, procuring equipment, and taking and relaying messages accurately and timely.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing is required.

The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) Critical Care Outreach is accountable and responsible for overseeing Critical Care Outreach Team operations. The ANIII Critical Care Outreach Team (ANIII CCOT) is a certified nurse with subject matter expertise in critical care nursing and emergency response. The ANIII CCOT is a proficient leader who serves as the nurse lead during emergency response activations across the organization and provides episodic patient care, nursing consultation, mentorship, and education to all members of the healthcare team. The ANIII CCOT provides safe, competent care to diverse patient populations and is a resource for interprofessional staff in the proactive recognition and management of deteriorating and high acuity patients. The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) Critical Care Outreach is accountable and responsible for overseeing Critical Care Outreach Team operations. The ANIII Critical Care Outreach Team (ANIII CCOT) is a certified nurse with subject matter expertise in critical care nursing and emergency response. The ANIII CCOT is a proficient leader who serves as the nurse lead during emergency response activations across the organization and provides episodic patient care, nursing consultation, mentorship, and education to all members of the healthcare team. The ANIII CCOT provides safe, competent care to diverse patient populations and is a resource for interprofessional staff in the proactive recognition and management of deteriorating and high acuity patients. A dynamic environment requires the ANIII CCOT to make independent decisions and judgments that support high quality care. The ANIII CCOT manages requests through autonomous triage, negotiation, and prioritization.
Duties & Responsibilities

Typical Duties
* Identifies, plans, and cares for the total needs of patients taking into consideration the age specific needs of patients served in assigned area of responsibility.
* Assists in radiologic procedures, including monitoring of patients before, during and after procedures.
* Notifies appropriate physician and nursing staff of any changes in patient's condition.
* Performs initial and ongoing assessment/data collection that includes consideration of biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational and discharge planning factors in a systematic manner.
* Formulates an individualized plan of care based on patient's assessed needs, desired outcome and consideration of age related requirements.
* Implements care in knowledgeable, skillful and safe manner based on established patient and nursing practice standards.
* Evaluates effectiveness of care and revise interventions as appropriate. Documents all nursing assessments, treatments, medications, tolerance to procedures, changes in condition, intervention and patient outcomes.
* Makes appropriate and timely decisions in a crisis or emergency situation.
* Floats within the Radiology department to provide nursing care, as needed.
* Performs and/or directs cardio-pulmonary resuscitation activities. Safely operates equipment necessary for providing patient care in assigned clinical area.
* Assists with necessary patient preparation as guided by Radiology policies and procedures.
* Works and communicates effectively with a variety of individuals. Functions as a member of the health care team.
* Provides general direction, guidance and coordination of patient care given by other levels of nursing staff.
* Applies knowledge of standard operating policies and procedures. Applies principles of BSIS Infection Control and Safety.
* Demonstrates awareness of patient/family rights and ethical/legal issues.
* Actively participates in staff orientation and staff development activities for the unit.
* Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for professional practice, growth and development.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois
* One (1) year of critical care nursing experience in an acute care setting or 6 months of interventional radiology nursing experience
* Must possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Must possess an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
* Must meet the Physical and Environmental Demands to work as a Radiology Nurse, including wearing a lead apron weighing approximately 15lbs., pushing and pulling greater than 20lbs.
* On call
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a college or university
* Certification in clinical area desirable.
* One (1) year experience in Trauma/ /ER nursing experience
* Must possess a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
