Job DescriptionThe Network Operations Manager is a hands-on technical leader responsible for the reliability, security, and performance of the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. Lead, supervise, and develop network operations staff, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, mentoring, and performance management, while remaining actively engaged in hands-on technical work.
Design, implement, operate, and support enterprise LAN, WAN, wireless, voice, and network security environments, contributing directly to configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Serve as a senior technical resource, providing escalation support, architectural guidance, and mentoring to the network team.
Develop, maintain, and enforce network standards, policies, procedures, and documentation, ensuring best practices through both leadership oversight and personal technical validation.
Manage and support network technologies including switching, routing, firewalls, wireless, and related infrastructure, with direct experience across multiple enterprise platforms.
Monitor network performance, availability, and security; analyze metrics, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement improvements to ensure high reliability and performance.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers, evaluate and recommend technologies, negotiate contracts, and ensure service delivery meets technical and business requirements.
Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects, acting as both project lead and hands-on technical contributor to ensure on-time and high-quality delivery.
Implement and maintain best practices for network security, resilience, risk management, and disaster recovery; participate directly in incident response and remediation activities.
Manage budgets, forecast technology and staffing needs, and control expenditures for network operations.
Foster a customer-focused culture that emphasizes responsiveness, accountability, and high-quality service delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
5+ years of experience supporting and operating mid-to-large-scale enterprise network environments, with a strong emphasis on hands-on technical work.
2+ years of leadership experience, which may include formal management, supervision, technical lead responsibilities, or mentoring junior engineers.
Demonstrated experience with at least two or more of the following technologies:
Citrix
Mitel
Juniper
Palo Alto
Aruba (including ClearPass)
Cisco switching
Strong expertise in enterprise networking concepts including LAN/WAN, routing and switching, wireless networking, and network security.
Proven ability to balance hands-on technical responsibilities with people leadership and operational oversight.
Experience managing vendor relationships, evaluating solutions, and participating in technology procurement.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear business impact.
Knowledge of modern IT and networking trends, including security best practices, cloud connectivity concepts, and infrastructure modernization.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Network+, or similar) preferred; advanced certifications or equivalent real-world expertise are a plus.
Candidates with strong technical backgrounds may be hired at a supervisor or lead level with the opportunity to grow into a manager role.
