Position Summary:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Tech contributes to the company's mission and vision by assisting with the provision of safe and effective nursing care in accordance with a defined scope of practice within the operating room, and maintaining an understanding and knowledge base for the function of each instrument for multiple services. This may include direct patient care and observation, scrubbing and assisting the surgeon at the operative field, surgical room turnover between cases, act as a preceptor and consistent collaboration with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision making. The services covered may include but are not limited to: Vascular, Cardiac, Neurosurgery, Robotics, Spine, Orthopedics, Urology, General Oncology, Gynecology Oncology, Ear Nose and Throat, General, Eyes, Burns, Plastics, Gynecology, Dental. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures in a Level I Trauma Hospital. Detailed responsibilities:
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Work with staff team to gather necessary supplies, equipment and instruments
* EQUIPMENT - Set up tables, instruments and supplies required for specific operations
* PATIENT CARE - Assist in preparing and draping of patient and operating area; prepare and maintain sterile field for surgical procedures
* SPECIMENS - Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES - Decontaminate all equipment, instruments, and supplies
* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols

* STERILE TEAM - Function as a member of the sterile team in donning gown and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and issuing instruments to surgeons
* COMMUNICATE - Communicate updates or necessary changes for the surgeon preference card to the appropriate coordinator
* ASSIST - Assist with maintaining equipment/instruments in proper working order; assist with table equipment, patient positioning, and application of immobilization devices and dressings
* COMMUNICATION - Verify implants and communicate special request for procedures
* SUPPLIES - Return unused supplies/instruments/equipment to appropriate storage area
* INSTRUMENTS - Separate and load used instruments into case carts for delivery to sterile processing; report instrument malfunction and place instruments in the appropriate location to be sent for repair; transport contaminated instruments from OR per hospital policy; covered and labeled as biohazard material; collaborate with sterile processing to prioritize instrument turnover
* PROCEDURES - Assist with urgent/emergent procedures
* INSTRUMENTS - Utilizing Instrument tracking system by scanning instruments to specific location

Primary Responsibilities
o Correctly troubleshoot customer concerns using the latest administrative and technical tools provided
o Ensure that common courtesy is shown toward all customers you come into contact with
o While in the vicinity of the Service Drive, act as a secondary customer greeter to customers that have not yet been acknowledged
o Keep up to date with all technical publications, Service Comm, and Asist terminal operations
o Make every reasonable effort to ensure safe and honorable vehicle service is delivered as promised the first time
o Address all original customer concerns before moving onto additional sales
o Inspect every vehicle for additional sales opportunities ensuring that the vehicle is being maintained to the local area and factory recommendation
o Ensure the customers vehicle is returned as clean, or cleaner than when it arrived
o Participate in any Factory, or in-house sponsored training programs offered to you
o Complete all paperwork completely and correctly, then ensure all required shop forms are attached to the RO hard copy
o Perform any other duties assigned by the Service Manager, ASM or Group Leader
o Always come to work on time, ready to work, and in a clean uniform
