DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Observe and follow all company policies and established procedures.
* Clean Service Desk/Kiosk.
* Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and follow company personal appearance policy.
* Assist in special projects and perform other functions as assigned by supervision.
* Work within our company's management planning (MPP) guidelines to maintain productivity.

* Verify all customer IDs presented and observe store policies pertaining to the acceptance of checks and the sale of tobacco/alcoholic beverages.
* Adhere to company policy pertaining to excessive cash in registers and request cash pickup in accordance with company policy.
* Observe security standards by staying alert and being aware of customers' actions and behavior. Report to manager or security any abnormal behavior.
* Process all of the various types of transactions accepted by the store including but not necessarily limited to cash, checks, authorized Accounts Receivable sales, Electronic Payments, WIC, coupons, gift cards, bottle credits, refunds, lottery, Western Union etc. in strict accordance with established company policies and procedures including full compliance with any legal requirements or regulations governing same.
* Secure register at all times when leaving it unattended; protect company assets at all times.
* Use and maintain equipment in good working order and report problems or malfunctions immediately.
* Maintain general housekeeping and sanitation standards in compliance with store policy and state and local health regulations on a regular, ongoing basis.

Lecturer of Mathematics

This is a full-time, ongoing, lecturer teaching position located at the University of Maine at Machias campus. The successful candidate is expected to serve on the Machias campus of the University of Maine.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credits of math courses each fall and spring semester in support of the general education curriculum, and other majors requiring specific quantitative skills. Courses will be a combination of algebra, precalculus, calculus I and II, applied statistics, and non-majors math. Courses will be taught primarily in-person, though asynchronous, and/or distance synchronous courses may be required depending on student needs. Courses are often taught in coordination with instructor teams from UMaine Orono.
In addition to instruction, this person will be expected to participate in service to the Machias campus through committee work and student advising.
This position has an academic work year (September 1

Assignment Details:
This position is for a temporary period between November 1 and December 31, 2025. We will consider candidates available for:

The Role:
The Mate, 500 GRT, is responsible for maintaining a safe and efficient navigational watch in compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, STCW Convention requirements, the Master's Standing Orders, and company policies and procedures. Key duties include maintaining accurate deck and radio logbooks, ensuring that all safety and navigational equipment is properly inspected, tested, and certified in accordance with the vessel's Planned Maintenance Program, and keeping complete records of all such activities. The Mate will also monitor and maintain inventories of deck stores, safety gear, and consumables, ensuring adequate supplies are available for uninterrupted operations.
The ideal candidate demonstrates proven leadership and team coordination skills, a thorough knowledge of pollution-prevention and safety regulations, and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and safe work practices. The Assistant Store Manager helps maintain a clean, well-organized store with a customer-first focus. At the direction and delegation of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager assists with supervision of store employees, management and presentation of merchandise, completion of paperwork, and preparation of deposits. The Assistant Store Manager also performs stocking and cashiering functions, and performs other duties as necessary to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction while protecting company assets and reducing losses.
DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
* Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
* Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing adequate training for employees, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Follow company work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and rotating merchandise on shelves and building merchandise displays.
* Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
* Assist in implementation and maintenance of planograms; ensure merchandise is presented according to established practices and Store Manager direction.
* Assist in ensuring financial integrity of the store through strict cashier accountability, key control, adherences to company security practices and cash control procedures; authorize and sign for refunds and overrides, count register tills, and deposit money in bank.
* Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
* Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

* Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
* Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
* Ability to perform cash register functions and generate reports.
* Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
* Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
* Ability to drive own vehicle to the bank to deposit money.
WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION:
* High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
* One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Frequent walking and standing
* Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to run check out station, stock merchandise and unload trucks; which may also require the ability to push and/or pull rolltainers for stocking merchandise
* Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as handheld scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, U-boats (six-wheel carts), and rolltainers
* Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds
* Occasional climbing (using step ladder) up to heights of six feet
* Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level
* Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions
* Occasional or regular driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend management meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores.
