The company rebranded to Lucid Motors in October 2016 and officially announced its intent to develop an all-electric, high-performance luxury vehicle.
In 2016, the company announced that it would be constructing a $700 million manufacturing plant in Casa Grande, Arizona.
In 2018, the company began talks with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia for a $1 billion investment.
The investment was completed in April 2019.

In July 2021, The Wall Street Journal reported that the Public Investment Fund will own over 60 percent of Lucid when the company goes public.
Electrify America has 800 charging station sites with 3,500 chargers by the end of 2021.
