Lukoil North America company history timeline
1992 — Creation of authorized capital of the newly incorporated LUKoil joint-stock company, the Company ranking among the top three global leaders in terms of oil production.
The company went private in 1993, and seven years later it acquired Getty Oil, an American company, which gave Lukoil a network of United States filling stations.
1995 — Switching over to common corporate shares and geographic presence expansion.
1996 — Participation in Shakh-Deniz international gas project.
1997 — First projects in Kazakhstan and Iraq.
1998 — Acquiring first foreign downstream assets.
In November 1999, LUKOIL Asia Pacific PTE LTD (LAP) was established.
1999 — Ukhta and Odessa refineries, Saratovorgsintez, Stavrolen, and Bugras refinery (Bulgaria) acquired.
In May 2000, LITASCO SA Moscow Representative Office, was established.
LUKOIL entered the United States market in 2000 when it purchased New York-based Getty Petroleum Marketing Inc. and its network of Getty-branded stations on the East Coast.
2000 — A new oil and gas province in the Caspian Sea discovered.
At the end of 2001 LUKOIL Benelux BV was established.
In February 2002, LUKOIL Pan-Americas LLC was established.
2002 — International expansion.
The first LUKOIL-branded service station in the United States opened in September 2003.
2003 — Expansion of the sales network in Europe.
In September 2004, LITASCO Middle East DMCC, was established in Dubai.The Company trades all products.
LAP joined the LITASCO Group end of year 2004.
In 2004, LUKOIL purchased a major portfolio of Mobil-branded stations from ConocoPhillips Company in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, many of which subsequently became LUKOIL-branded service stations.
2004 — Strategic partnership with ConocoPhillips.
2005 — V. Filanovskiy field discovered in the Caspian Sea.
2006 — Vysotsk shipping terminal commissioned.
In 2007, EIGER SHIPPING SA, a wholly owned subsidiary of LITASCO SA was established in Switzerland.
2007 — New projects in Western Africa.
2008 — Power engineering assets acquired.
LUKOIL North America LLC began operations in 2009.
March 4, 2010, registration of LITASCO SA Central Asia LLC, in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, business has started on May 1, 2010.
July 29th, 2010, LITASCO SA established a joint venture (50/50) with Barcelona based oil Company MEROIL SA for the extension of the existing MEROIL terminal in the Port of Barcelona.
2010 — Winning Bid for West Qurna-2 field (Iraq). Oil reserves discovered in the Gulf of Guinea on Ghana’s shelf.
In 2011, as a result of portfolio optimization, the Getty network was sold.
2011 — LUKOIL opens Russia’s first ever corporate training center to train offshore oil industry personnel.
April 27th, 2012, Opening ceremony in Barcelona of extension, called MEROIL TANK, S.L., and start of operations in the new capacity of 360.000 m3.
2012 — LUKOIL switches over to production of only EURO 5 gasolines.
2013 — LUKOIL expands its presence in Western Africa.
June 2014: Marketing of West Qurna 2 crude production.
2015 — Integration into the Russian wholesale energy market.
2016 – LUKOIL celebrated its 25th anniversary.
2018 – LUKOIL starts buy-back, continues to develop lucrative offshore production projects, commissions a gas treatment complex in Uzbekistan, finishes construction of a solar power plant in Volgograd, and opens the Church of the Holy Martyr Tatiana in Kogalym.
As per March 11th, 2019, LITASCO SA in Switzerland is expanding business into Gas and Power
2019 – LUKOIL continues development of the Caspian shelf, brings a new field into production in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, concludes agreements on projects development with foreign partners, and launches manufacturing of new refined petroleum products.
As per January 1, 2020 opening of LUKOIL Asia Pacific PTE LTD, Hong Kong Branch Office in Hong Kong
