George Gordon relocated to Tampa Bay from Silicon Valley in 2001 to become Chairman and CEO of Enporion, a business-to-business electronic commerce company. He brought with him to Tampa Bay a passion for entrepreneurism and regional economic development. George Gordon joined the board of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum in 2002 and later served as its Chair for four years. During this time he also served on the Board of the Tampa Bay Partnership and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council on which he continues to serve. George Gordon acquired Enporion in 2009 and sold it in 2011 to Global eProcure, a leading sourcing and procurement technology company. Prior to joining Enporion, George Gordon was President and CEO of FastParts.com, a B2B trading exchange for electronic components. Before his tenure with FastParts.com, he co-founded and was Chairman and CEO of Datamatix, an e-commerce trading exchange company specializing in public-sector procurement services. Earlier in his career, George Gordon was Chairman and CEO of SPD Technologies, a company he created by leading a management buyout from Gould, Incorporated. George Gordon and his management team established SPD Technologies as the world leader in advanced shipboard electrical distribution, monitoring and control systems for the U.S. Navy’s fleet of combat ships. George Gordon is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and served for 26 years in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve. He holds the rank of Captain, US Navy Retired. In addition to his civilian and military accomplishments, George Gordon is active in a number of civic and business association groups. In addition to TBTF and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, George Gordon serves on the Florida Technology, Scholarship and Research Board and the TBTF Foundation Board. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Tampa Bay Innovation Center and recently became the Chairman of the Executive Steering Committee of First Wave, a Federal EDA grant project to promote the growth of entrepreneurism and technology companies in Tampa Bay. Over the eleven years since moving to Tampa Bay, George Gordon has provided leadership to our technology community, mentored scores of entrepreneurs and colleagues and been an inspiration for our youth to pursue a STEM education and careers in technology.
