Role Overview
As a Qualcomm Mechanical Engineering Intern, you'll have the opportunity to push the boundaries of what exists and help establish the new standards for tomorrow. You will work as an equal contributor on a team of leading engineers to design, simulate, and test mechanical and thermal systems that support Qualcomm's advanced semiconductor technologies. Projects may span IC packaging, chip/package co-design, thermal modeling, signal and power integrity, and next-generation cooling solutions.
This internship supports the Mechanical Engineering track. Based on your resume you will be aligned to projects within this track.
Minimum Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree program in mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field
* Must be available for 11-14 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-September)
* Expected graduation date of November 2026 or later
* 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as Python, Matlab
Preferred Qualifications

In each project you will work with a cross functional team to ensure that the end solution is brought to market quickly and meets our customer's needs.
What You'll Do
This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and is responsible for the mechanical design and validation of the next module or the next chassis that we bring to market. Arista produces switches with a high number of ports per rack unit. This creates challenges in mechanical design. You will be faced with the usual requirements like structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, documentation, conforming to a family of existing products, and tight schedules. In each project you will work with a cross functional team to ensure that the end solution is brought to market quickly and meets our customers' needs.

* Implement the selected design using Creo 3D CAD and provide all the necessary drawings, critical to function dimensions and 3D files to allow the design to be prototyped and manufactured.
* Schedule and manage peer and cross functional team reviews of your design.
* Structure bill of materials (BOM), release and change the product using product lifecycle management tools (Agile).
* Provide 3D models to be used in thermal simulations.
* Design heat sinks using input from thermal simulations and create the drawings and 3D files necessary to prototype and manufacture the parts.
* Manage or perform air flow and thermal testing to support thermal simulations
* Provide PCB design drawings and 3D files to the ECAD design team. Work with the electrical engineer and PCB layout to address placement concerns. Check the final design of the PCB.
* Work with CMs to address DFM concerns.
* Work in the lab to check the prototypes against the 3D MCAD design and debug issues.
* Communicate and address manufacturing issues found in the lab to the CM.
* Track the testing performed at outside labs on your design to capture any additional changes needed.
* Participate in cross-functional team meetings to resolve production sustaining issues.
* Some travel to Asia and in North America is required.
Qualifications
* BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
* Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers is preferred.
* Experience designing sheetmetal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
* Experience designing plastic parts for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.
* Experience using PTC Creo a plus.
* Experience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate) a plus.
* Experience with thermal simulation and/or air flow testing a plus.
* Experience with liquid cooling systems a plus.
* Familiarity with PTC Windchill a plus.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
Compensation Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $120,000 to $180,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista's Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. Who You'll Work With
In each project you will work with a cross functional team to ensure that the end solution is brought to market quickly and meets our customer's needs.
What You'll Do
This position reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager and is responsible for the mechanical design of the next module or the next chassis that we bring to market. Arista produces switches with a high number of ports per rack unit. This creates challenges in mechanical design. You will be faced with the usual requirements, like structure, cooling, EMC, safety, manufacturability, cost, appearance, tolerances, documentation, conforming to a family of existing products, along with tight schedules.
* Explore solutions suggested by team members and add new solutions that blend all of the requirements.
* Implement the selected design using Creo 3D CAD and provide all the necessary drawings, critical to function dimensions and 3D files to allow the design to be prototyped and manufactured.
* Schedule and manage peer and cross functional team reviews of your design and participate in reviews of other engineers designs.
* Structure bill of materials (BOM), release and change the product using product lifecycle management tools (Agile).
* Provide 3D models to be used in thermal simulations.
* Provide PCB design drawings and 3D files to the ECAD design team. Work with the electrical engineer and PCB layout to address placement concerns. Check the final design of the PCB.
* Work with CMs and suppliers to address any DFM concerns they have.
* Work in the lab to check prototypes against the 3D MCAD design and debug design issues.
* Communicate manufacturing issues found in the lab to the CM.
* Some travel to suppliers to troubleshoot issues or to help expedite a build is required.
* Participate in cross-functional team meetings to resolve production sustaining issues.
Qualifications
* BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering + 7 years' experience.
* Relevant experience in mechanical design of computer/network equipment designed to operate in data centers is preferred.
* Experience in ECO, BOM and Deviation processes, (Agile experience a plus).
* Experience using ProEngineer (PTC Creo) is a plus.
* Experience with Mechanica (PTC Creo Simulate) a plus.
* Experience with thermal simulation and air flow testing is a plus.
* Experience with liquid cooling systems a plus.
* Experience designing sheet metal parts using soft and hard tooling guidelines.
* Plastic part design for both cosmetic and non-cosmetic uses.

Compensation Information:
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $130,000 to $200,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Role Overview
As a Machine Learning / AI Engineering Intern, you will help build best-in-class solutions and tools that enable state-of-the-art technologies for next-generation mobile and embedded machine learning platforms. These platforms power smartphones, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and IoT devices. You'll work in a dynamic research environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers and software developers, collaborating with internal teams, working with popular neural network frameworks, and gaining exposure to Qualcomm's SOC compute and ML hardware accelerators. You will design, develop, and test software for machine learning tools and frameworks that make models smaller and more efficient for edge devices.

Minimum Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. degree program in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
* Must be available for 11-14 weeks during Summer 2026 (May-September)
* Expected graduation date of November 2026 or later
* 1+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python
Preferred Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD degree program in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field
* Candidates actively pursuing a degree with an anticipated graduation between November 2026 and June 2027
* Proficiency in deep neural networks, machine learning algorithms, and architectures (CNNs, RNNs, LSTMs)
* Experience with ML frameworks like TensorFlow, TFLite, PyTorch

* Understanding of linear algebra operations and fast math libraries

* Familiarity with on-device training, transfer learning, personalization, federated learning, NLP, and ML security/privacy

* Background in ML data pipelines, data management, backend/frontend applications
* Research excellence with publications in NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV

Role Overview
As a Qualcomm Multimedia Engineering Intern, you'll work on best-in-class technologies including camera, video encoding/decoding, audio, speech, GPU, modem, CPU, application processor, multimedia engines, and computer vision. These technologies are at the heart of billions of Snapdragon devices across the globe. The team is responsible for system-level architecture, analysis, budgeting, and optimization of multimedia use cases to achieve lowest power and best performance.
