Cons of working at Lyft

The platform fee's are friggin' outrageous and highway robbery. We are the physical labor of Lyft to rent a car is friggin unbelievable and outrageous you do t make money you will have to pay $344-$380 on a Flex car rental with lyft. It's crazy. They work us hard and steal our wages before we see the money on platform and third party fees, and the 1099 says just "deduct it" but we worked as a driver for the money and never even see the money we drove for hours on. They steal steal from their employees fees they say we ommited. If they would charge just $1000 platform fee's alot of us drivers would Not be in poverty in 2024 now. I made $60,000 last year with Lyft and was broke around Christmas because alot of my money was taken on their high expensive used cars. I made $60,000 with Lyft but the platform fee's and third party fee's were just taken from me they use us driver to pay their partners. I never saw alot of my money and if I received just $10,000 more of my money. I would actually be in a better place because I actually earned $60,000 minus outrageous platform fees. I would be financially secure right now. I hate that the Lyft Driver App has done nothing but used my physical labor to drive and took over $30,000 plus, of my money I made but never saw or held before the outrageous fee's were deducted from Lyft before we are even paid on our rides money is deducted on each ride, their fees are outrageous and I now see they would not have a company without good drivers like me. This was an eye opener. I worked in 2022, and didn't see the potential of money I could make if all these outrageous platform and third party fee's weren't taken.

Lyft benefits

At the platform feed and third parties fees there is no benefit here. If you worked at Smiley Circus, you have to work at the Smiley Circus at Smiley Circus for an employee to go to work and get charged to work was outrageous. I was charged over $30,000 plus in crazy platform fee's and take my money before I see my money is thievery. I didn't know I was agreeing to pay enormous and unbelievable platform and third party fee's at a high price that has left me broke and needing food stamps after actually making $60k.

Pros of working at Lyft

Making a good living picking up people using a navigable device, but the people are sometimes, stinky, drunk, with poor hygiene, some you're don't know who you're picking up. Some cause disruptions on the ride several have left big messes I have several cleaning messes Lyft has no clear way to report cleaning incidents and getting paid for you missing rides because you have to clean the mess of another adult person.

What do you like best about Lyft's CEO and the leadership team?

Don't know them

How would you improve Lyft's culture?

By asking for clear and transparent words explaining for each and every rides platform and third party fee's are taken from our pay and that we'll never ever get to see our money.

How did you prepare for the Lyft interview?

You are not interviewed by an app. You just apply online and add or upload your personal information.I Leased a car, made sure I had insurance and all that was required in order to drive.

What brings you the most joy at Lyft?

See the atmosphere change from morning to night..

What's the diversity at Lyft like?

I don't feel that I get any representation personally other than through a chat line.

How does your compensation at Lyft compare to the industry average?

Poorly because of outrageous platform and third party fees that are hijacked from our pay, daily and on every ride.

Pros of working at Lyft

Working alone

Cons of working at Lyft

You will rack up TONS of mileage on your car. Be prepared for verbal support but ZERO actual support. If someone vomits in your car Lyft will find a reason NOT to pay for the cleaning fee. If you have a bad experience with an actual Lyft employee, you will get micromanaged, the asset protection folks will suggest you need to follow up with them, and they will indirectly threaten your job. The company is a nice idea, but in actuality the job is hell. If you stick to holidays (including Valentines and Halloween) you will make a lot of money.
