Lyra Therapeutics is growing, and we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director/Sr. Director of Clinical Sciences, to join our dynamic Clinical Development team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Clinical Affairs, the Director of Clinical Sciences will play a crucial role in driving scientific, clinical, and operational strategy to late stage clinical development. This role will lead cross-functional study teams for the study design, data interpretation, and communication. The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical research, a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
**Responsibilities**
* Develop and implement the clinical development strategy for Lyra's products
* Work closely with the Clinical executive team to align clinical programs with overall business objectives
* Design and oversee the execution of clinical trials, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines
* Work with a cross-functional team to conduct clinical studies, including clinical and safety data review, site interface on clinical study content, preparation of meeting materials, communication plans (e.g., administrative letters, protocol amendments, protocol deviations), safety and medical monitoring, preparation of status update reports, and study close-out activities
* Manage a Clinical Scientist
* Foster collaboration and communication among internal and external team members to drive successful clinical development milestones
* Provide scientific and medical expertise to guide clinical development programs
* Work closely with medical monitors and key opinion leaders to ensure the scientific integrity of clinical trials
* Support Clinical Operations function with medical monitoring reports, safety reviews, site interactions, and reviewing TFLs
* Provide analytical support of clinical trial data (safety and efficacy), including gathering, analyzing, reviewing, interpreting, and providing preliminary assessments and recommendations
* Analyze and synthesize information to assess issues relating to protocol conduct and/or individual subject safety
* Provide support for Data Monitoring Committees including operationalizing the charter, preparing updates and blinded data reviews, execution of meetings and adjudications, and communication of synthesized data reports
* Contribute to protocols, clinical study reports, IBs, ICFs, training documents, and other clinical and regulatory documents
* Interact with internal and external stakeholders (study sites, vendors, committees, etc.) in support of clinical trial objectives; responds to or triages questions for appropriate escalations
* Contribute to the organization, preparation, and execution of investigator and advisory board meetings in collaboration with the project team and external vendors

Requirements
* Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PhD, or equivalent) with at least 10 years of clinical research experience in the pharmaceutical industry
* Experience in analysis and interpretation of clinical data (safety and efficacy); working knowledge of biostatistics, GCP, and regulatory requirements for clinical studies; global clinical research experience and experience working with clinical trial sites preferred
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and solid analytical skills
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based matrix environment
* Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at a time

Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Supervises all work performed within the section. This includes, but is not limited to, responsibility for quality of all tests performed, organizing workflow and prioritizing work as needed. a. Reviews all test results and QC data generated in Hematology, urinalysis, coagulation and serology as per established criteria by CAP and other regulatory agencies. b. Maintains a procedure manual that is accurate, up-to-date and in compliance with format and content established by Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute (formerly NCCLS), CAP and other regulatory agencies. Review and updates at least annually and maintains documentation of all changes to procedures. Formally communicates all procedural changes to staff and documents staff acknowledgement of these changes. c. Oversees Instrument Maintenance Program and assures maintenance is performed, as defined in the policies & procedures. Establishes written maintenance logs, troubleshooting guidelines, written problem/resolution logs and works with vendor to assure all activities, including Preventive Maintenance are performed to maintain the instruments to perform optimally. d. Assures that tests are performed within established turn around times and regularly seeks opportunities to improve service and meet/exceed patient/client needs. e. Assures consistently high quality test result records as evidenced by data review, Quality Control, Proficiency Testing, CAP Inspections, and feedback from clinician. f. Posts daily assignments in Hematology a weekly basis and updates to meet the needs of each department to assure adequate coverage. c. Meets regularly with Management Team to schedule department wide staffing issues. Collaborates with peers to assure cross coverage and that minimum staffing needs are consistently met. d. Shares in rotation to provide coverage for vacancies, absences, and paid time off. Is responsible for assuring the adequacy of coverage. 3. Establishes & maintains an effective inventory control system that assures inventory levels that consistently meet the demands of the workload. a. Prepares laboratory purchase orders and submits for approval. Adheres to procedures regarding acquisition of, and payment for, goods and services. b. Solicits feedback from physicians & other caregivers as to the adequacy of testing protocols. 7. Maintains accurate and complete documentation required by regulatory agencies, including quality control, Performance Improvement, instrument maintenance service records and other record keeping requirements of the laboratory licensing and accrediting agencies and organizations. a. Is responsible for the performance of all Quality Control required to maintain precision, accuracy, and quality of testing. Establishes a comprehensive QC program that is in compliance with CAP and CLSI Standards. b. Implements new procedures as needed to ensure compliance with state regulations and all regulatory agencies (CAP, CLIA, JCAHO) c. 4. Prepares surgical equipment and instruments for specific procedures. Demonstrates and verbalizes knowledge of aseptic technique. Informs clinical leader of any equipment problems.
5. Circulates regularly throughout unit to assist nurses and physicians as needed in pre-, intra- and post-procedure.
6. Escorts patients into the procedure rooms and obtains baseline vital signs and connects patient to monitoring equipment.
7. Under the review of the RN, obtains pre-procedure data, including but not limited to; height, weight, allergies, NPO status, post-procedure ride contact and call back number.

Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to work within the semi-restricted and restricted environment of the Operating Room and other Perioperative support areas.
2. Stands under hot surgical lights for prolonged periods of time.
3. Possibility of muscle strain from lifting patients and heavy equipment, shocks and burns from cautery units and autoclaves. Possibility of cuts from sharp instruments.
4. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, blood and bodily fluids, extreme noise levels, radiation, lasers, drastic fluctuations in ambient temperature, etc.
5. Ability to wear a protective lead apron for extended periods of time and exposure to radioactivity, harmful anesthesia gases and septic infections.
