Founded in 1825, the company is owned and operated by descendants of the founding Patout family. It operates the oldest working sugar mill in the US (the Enterprise Factory in Patoutville, Louisiana), and is one of the oldest family-owned sugar businesses in the nation. The company owns 43,000 acres of cane fields and its mills have the capacity to process approximately 4.6 million tons of cane per year.
