Located on 211 West First Street in Oklahoma City, Macklanburg sold his ‘NuMetal Weatherstrip’ to small hardware stores throughout the country and world, eventually relocating his one hundred employees to 123 West 23rd Street in 1930.
Beginning in 1987, Wedge Innovations, invented, developed, manufactured, and marketed the custom liquid inclinometer used in the SmartLevel electronic digital level, sold through professional tool retailers worldwide.
In 1992, Wedge was purchased by M-D Building Products, then Macklanburg-Duncan, a leader in contractor grade levels.
In 2000, Macklanburg-Duncan divested its caulk and sealant business to GE and was re-named M-D Building Products.
Replaced aging aluminum extrusion press with newer High Speed Aluminum Extrusion Press in 2005.
New energy efficient aging oven installed in 2005 re-circulates hot exhaust air to help heat Plant in winter.
Plotkin is the majority shareholder in the company and led a 2007 buyout of the founding Macklanburg family that had run the company for three generations.
In 2008 MD began working 4 day weeks (4 -10 hr shifts) in order to reduce carbon emissions from driving to and from work in non-peak driving hours.
In 2009, MD recycled 185 tons of paper products (equivalent to saving 3,145 trees). Investments in upgraded printers, copiers, scanners and digital document storage capabilities will reduce our use of paper going forward
In 2012, M-D Building Products purchased Loxcreen Company, a leader in the production of OEM aluminum and plastic extrusions.
In early 2017, the company was awarded funds from the city’s Strategic Investment Program, which will help them invest $11.8 million in infrastructure improvements and add 105 jobs to their Oklahoma City plant.
