A Machine Operator will perform various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance on assigned machines. Provide detailed feedback about your line, and the issues occurring. Report machine settings on your line daily. Being involved in CIL's (clean inspect & lubrication) each day to keep machines clean and find defective parts. Keep tools in their designated area and keep a clean workspace. Responsibilities Operate and maintain a minimum of two forming presses along with two sets of packaging lines. Troubleshoot problems during operation for both the forming presses and packaging line equipment. Supply and install all raw material for the forming presses and packaging equipment as needed. Monitor quality of product as it is discharged from forming machines, such as formation, stack configuration, print quality, delivery to packaging line, etc. Monitor the quality of the packaged product after passing through the packaging line. Execute and maintain all WSWD procedures and standards: Peer to Peer communication-Huddle to discuss status of production line with shift counterparts. Document productivity and losses Centerlines-Confirm machine settings and complete deviations when setting note to standard. CIL's-Clean and inspect equipment daily to find and report defects. Defect Handling-Complete defect tags for any defects found on the equipment. 6S-Maintain workspace organization. Breakdown Elimination-Tag parts removed and replaced during a breakdown. Place into part morgue bin Communicate with assigned Packers to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials. Load paperboard rolls onto machine ensuring its placement is correct. Assist the Packers in packing product when lines are running efficiently. Other duties as assigned. Performs all other inspections at work cell including additional run out and poke yoke checks * Consistently produces 100% quality parts by identifying abnormal situations and following proper operating procedures. * Initiates Trouble Reports. * May participate in investigations and suggest countermeasures * Approves outgoing, inspected parts by labeling boxes with individual packing numbers * Demonstrates a good understanding of all production-related documentation (e.g., PCC, Operation Sheets, SOS, FMEA, Key Point, Kan Ban, Flow Cards) * Demonstrate a good understanding of TPM by checking all fluid levels in the machines (e.g., oil, coolant, etc.) and participate in scheduled TPM activities * Attends and successfully completes all operator training required for each Rank * Strives daily to meet Department and Company goals and objectives; improve (Kaizen) machine processes, support team leaders and members, and maintain a safe working environment for all * Understands Kaizen program and participate * Trains others when requested in areas where they have already achieved suitable level of competence * All other duties required for the job and requested by a member of the Management Team Machine Operator Skill & Education Requirements: * High School Diploma/GED * Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check * Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation * Additional job-related training preferred, such as technical courses, certifications, seminars * Good math skills and reasoning ability * Good communication skills both verbal and written * Ability to train others and work in a team-oriented environment * Six months to one year of previous factory / manufacturing experience preferred * Basic mechanical knowledge preferred * Able to adhere to a strict safety regimen and maintain a safety-conscious environment Machine Operator Physical Requirements: * Ability to remain standing for up to 10 hours at a time * Ability to maneuver around the plant; repeatedly bend, squat, move both arms above the head, and move head straight up and down and side to side * Good hand strength with steady movement, good finger dexterity, repeatedly able to grasp small and large objects and rotate wrists, arms, and shoulders * Good eyesight, hearing, and speaking voice; and ability to lift between 10-40 lbs. frequently * Ability to work well with others.
