BASIC FUNCTION: Sets-up and operates CNC press brake to bend and form various sizes, shapes, and types of sheet metal parts as specified by part blueprints to meet quality and production standards. Reads blueprints and production orders. Accurately uses a square, rule and protractor. Retrieves own parts and dies. Enters data into the machine's controller to create a program to run a part including entering gage data (x, r and z coordinates, bend allowances, gage types); entering ram data (tonnage control, positioning, speeds); and entering any detailed information necessary for another operator to run the job in the future (die choices, die positions, information vital to running the job successfully). Completes own setups. Verifies print to latest engineering revision and then verifies part is made to print specifications. Inspects part for any nonconformities including those of a cosmetic nature (i.e. scratches, dents, deformities). Arranges completed parts in an orderly fashion and moves finished parts to holding area. Keeps appropriate production records. Services press brake as required and performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Maintains cleanliness of work area and follows safe work practice rules. Enter inventory transactions using the Bar Code Inventory system. Safely use powered material handling equipment such as forklifts, scissors tables, hoists, or pallet jacks to lift and transfer materials from one place to another. Observe line operation to detect causes of part defects or specific machine malfunctions and provide machine repair technicians with information. Perform cleaning and 5S tasks.
