Purpose Statement

Operate slitter, placing correct dimensions and specification into the computer.
Fill orders for zone tape, sponge, and tubing.
Clean and maintain work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Inventory management of materials and finished goods in the converting area
Correctly completes all inventory transactions in the ERP system.

Job Description
The Machine Operator may be assigned to the embossing, sealing, or inspection departments to support the needs of the business. In this role, you will be assigned to one of three shifts (1st Shift, 2nd Shift, or 3rd Shift). The shift schedules are Monday-Friday and the hours for each are as follows: 1st Shift 7:00am-3:30pm, 2nd Shift 3:00pm-11:30pm, 3rd Shift 11:00pm-7:30am. *3rd shift Monday starts at 11:00pm Sunday night. Training for this position will take place on 1st Shift. You must be able to complete your training on 1st Shift before moving to 2nd Shift or 3rd Shift. We offer a 2nd shift differential of $2.50 per hour and 3
rd
shift differential of $3.00 per hour
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Follow all company rules and regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.
Read and follow work instructions and inspection standards to correctly perform operational processes and meet customer product specifications.
Start-up and shut-down machines according to procedures.
Operate, monitor, and adjust machines in a grinding, assembly, or broach and turning line via switches, buttons, and displays.
Supply components to hoppers, indexing poles or conveyors.
Using hand tools, change worn machine accessories such as grinding wheels, finishing stones, and tool inserts.
Visually inspect components and parts for defects, sort and disassemble defect parts.
Measure components and parts with precision dial indicators or other instruments to ensure they meet customer requirements and machines are operating correctly.
Troubleshoot causes of machine alarms and take appropriate action.
Record quality inspection data on check sheets.
Record production information on daily reports.
Enter inventory transactions using the Bar Code Inventory system.
Safely use powered material handling equipment such as forklifts, scissors tables, hoists, or pallet jacks to lift and transfer materials from one place to another.
Observe line operation to detect causes of part defects or specific machine malfunctions and provide machine repair technicians with information.
Perform cleaning and 5S tasks.

Education and/or Experience
On average, this job requires 4 to 8 weeks of on-the-job training with an experienced trainer to acquire specific job skills. Exact training time depends upon a person's experience, abilities, and role to be learned (assembler, grinder, turning operator).
This job requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Basic mechanical knowledge of computerized machines, gauges, and hand tools
General knowledge of material handling, manufacturing processes, quality control systems
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, and decimals.
Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities
When your actions lead to success:
* Operates machine to cut out parts of various specified shapes and sizes from different types of materials.
* Proofread and understand all paperwork.
* Positions dies into machine, inserts shims between die and push plate to set specified gap, and locks dies into position, using wrenches.
* Places rolls of material in feed holders, turns knobs to synchronize action of feed rolls with die, and threads end of material through feed rolls and die for cutting. Starts machine and inspects sample cuts to determine conformity to specifications.

Responsibilities
The Process Technician meets manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, quality, production and efficiency. Must be able to set up and provide indirect supervision to packers operating multiple production lines.
Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and report all observed safety hazards to the Production Supervisor or Production Manager. Must participate in Safety 100 program; turn in one safety card weekly. Must participate in monthly Safety Topic as well as pass monthly assessments.
Ensures a quality product through regular quality checks, by reading and verifying line orders and spec sheets. Responds to Packers/Sr. Packers, QA, or other Process Techs when quality issues arise. Reports any out of spec product to the Team Lead or Production Supervisor immediately.
Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area; meets plant and department housekeeping standards. May be assigned additional housekeeping responsibilities throughout the plant as needed to maintain a clean and orderly work space.
Performs all duties related to start-ups. Threads up equipment with film and draw tape. Using correct gloves and PPE at all times.
Performs roll changes when replacing film and/or conducting a product change
Change out draw tape spools and know that there are various sized spools.
Learn to adjust pinners and help tape pinners in bag machine and draw tape module, clean pinners.
Identifies when a bleed/vent slit blades, hole punch claw, seal bar tape, perforation knives, drive belts, or other parts are dirty or worn; replaces seal bar tape with new tape.
Notifies Team Lead and/or Production Supervisor when production and/or quality issues arise.
Replaces filters on bag winder, bag machine, draw tape module and unwind.
Learns the basics of resin: where it comes from, terminology of resin, how to read the silo scales equipment components / functions.
Learn terminology used in production process such as FPM (feet per minute); EEF and MEEF and how they are affected, PPLH (pounds per labor hour) and understand how it is impacted.
Tracks daily scrap.
Learns to operate an electric pallet jack and complete an inspection report
Reads travelers and set up all orders within specifications.
Troubleshoots assigned equipment.
Qualifications
Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High Scholl Diploma or GED.
In addition to the educational requirements 1-2 years hands on manufacturing experience in a production environment working with mechanical/electrical machinery. Blown film industry experience preferred, but not required.
