Example Of What A Machine Setter does

  • Supply production lines with materials.
  • Start machines, adjust controls, and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly.
  • Disassembled machines or equipment to inspect parts for defects.
  • Turn controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure, creating vacuums, and adjusting coolant flow.
  • Attach and adjust guides, stops, clamps, chucks, or feed mechanisms, using hand tools.
  • Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links.
  • Verified conformance of piece parts to specification using measuring instruments such as micrometer, air gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Read work orders and production schedules to determine specifications.
  • Manage shift production requirements by assigning operators to machines needed for production demands.
  • Sharpen cutting tools and drill bits, using bench grinders.
  • Monitored machine operations and observe lights and gauges in order to detect malfunctions.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly TPM on assigned machines.
  • Tow motor, preventative maintenance on machines and bander.
  • Used troubleshooting skills to implement countermeasure methods upon breakdowns in order to maintain production goals.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees.
  • Positioned, aligned, and secured work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine bed.
  • Reset complicated food preparation and production machines to fit various orders.
  • Make minor electrical and mechanical repairs and adjustments to machines and notify supervisors when major service is required.
  • Evaluated production and the production area for compliance with OSHA standards.
