Job Purpose
As member of the PU Drivetrain Development Department, you design and bring powertrain components and technologies into our vehicles, ensuring that all marketability, reliability, regulatory, profitability, manufacturing, and design requirements and targets are met.
At the Senior Engineer Career Level, you will take ownership and more of a sub-leadership role when it comes to developing a department function set or feature on the vehicle.
Key Accountabilities
Group Leadership - Lead a small project team of contractors and/or associates as PIC / Project Leader.
Engineering Solution Design- Conduct or be the sub-lead in the design of engineering solutions for assigned Powertrain component / department function set and the associated drawings and validation processes, to gather data and provide feedback on their feasibility, costs, and performance. Address issues and changes as they come up. Use Catia 2D/3D design and Predictive Simulation to carry out solution design and testing.
Engineering Specifications - Conduct or be the sub-lead analysis of information and the drafting of engineering specifications for an assigned Powertrain component / department function set, to inform engineering work in the organization and / or of its suppliers.
Data Collection and Analysis - Conduct research using primary data sources and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends in technical evaluations.
Supplier Management- Work with suppliers to coordinate requirements, schedule activities, and address issues in a timely manner.
Project Management- Coordinate all steps of the development process for assigned part.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
Bachelor s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education & experience required.
Minimum Experience:
5+ years of relevant experience
Other Job-Specific Skills
2D/3D CATIA, simulation, supplier support/negotiation and manufacturing support.
Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and excellent communication/ interpersonal skills required.

Grüns is seeking a Freelance 3D Mold-Designer who will partner with our teams to bring innovative mold designs from concept to prototype and production, designing and manufacturing premium gummy molds with precision, scalability, and production fidelity.
This is a U.S. based remote role and part of our fully remote HQ team. This is a contract, part-time role with an hourly rate of $30-$40 USD, based on experience. Expect about 10 hours per week of dedicated work during normal EST business hours, with some flexibility as business needs shift. This is intended to be an ongoing position, and we will evaluate add over time with potential to extend or convert to a longer term team member depending on business needs.
In this role, you will:
Receive concept designs or existing blue-prints from Grüns and convert them into detailed 3D CAD mold-models.
Work in software platforms such as SolidWorks and/or UG NX (formerly UG) capable of producing manufacturable designs and output in SolidWorks or STEP file format.
Apply scale and accuracy checks relevant to gummy manufacturing, like verifying mold cavity volumes using our target gummy-density
Create 3D design files and blueprints, owning the workflow starting from prototype design onward (mold fabrication drawings, draft angles, parting lines, ejection design, etc.).
Work in close collaboration with our in-house designers and external teams to ensure branding, compatibility, version control, and manufacturability of the mold designs.
Provide deliverables in agreed formats (SolidWorks native files, STEP files) and documentation of key dimensions, tolerances, and material/processing assumptions.
Ensure that mold designs are production-ready, including verification that the cavity volumes and wall thicknesses meet our gummy recipe's physical constraints.
Assist with revision cycles based on physical prototyping feedback and mold testing.
Deliverables:
3D CAD mold model(s) delivered in SolidWorks native format and STEP file format.
Documentation of key dimensions, cavity volumes, wall-thicknesses, tolerances, and reference to the gummy density test for scale verification.
Revision history and version control with the internal team.
Ready-to-send manufacturing drawings or tooling vendor-ready outputs as needed.
Support during prototype iteration until final mold sign-off.
We're looking for someone who:
A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering, industrial design, product design, or a related field is required.
Proven experience in 3D CAD design for manufacturing (preferably mold design, tooling, or product injection/manufacturing tooling- school portfolios are acceptable but proven work experience is preferred).
Strong proficiency with SolidWorks and/or UG NX (UG)- ability to model with precision, apply draft/tolerance features, manage assemblies, and generate STEP files.
Demonstrated ability to design with manufacturability in mind: understanding mold design fundamentals (parting lines, draft angles, ejector pin layout, material shrinkage, cavity consistency, etc.).
Comfortable working on relatively small-scale, high-precision molds (such as for confectionery) and collaborating remotely with a small internal design team.

The Position
The Mechanical Designer for Above Group shall contribute and support HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, and Process Piping design efforts for the firm. The MD shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through drafting and design efforts. This individual shall directly contribute to the Firm and its success through technical experience to effectively produce a quality design and ultimate product to the customer. The MD shall execute drafting and design duties as required to ensure quality is always maintained.
The MD is a Designer by education and experience:

Has expertise in fire protection, HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and mechanical utility systems.

Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
Design scale or fullsize templates of specialty items, such as pipe supports and fabricated components.

Responsibilities
Analyze millions of structured and unstructured data to identify patterns and insights in user behavior and build meaningful features to improve model performance
Design and implement efficient and reusable features, models and systems for different machine learning applications (classical & deep learned models) in low latency fashion
Contribute to the performance and continued optimization of our recommendation systems: build machine learning models to improve understanding of user preferences, user intent and context to deliver accurate, relevant and personalized recommendations
collaborate with the business, analytics, and engineering counterparts to share the discovered data stories with stats, charts, and formal presentations, and finally propose recommendations to maximize the business impact.
Build and fine‑tune large language models (LLMs), transformers, agents, and/or hybrid systems to improve relevance, semantic understanding, and user experience.
What it takes to catch our eye
Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent research experience).
3+ years of relevant industry experience building large scale ML systems
Prior experience with large language models, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), or agentic AI.
Strong experience with Python, SQL PyTorch and/or TensorFlow
Clear track record of publications in peer‑reviewed conferences or journals (e.g. ACL, EMNLP, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, KDD, SIGIR, WWW etc.).
Knowledge of distributed training techniques, and efficiency at scale (memory, latency, hardware constraints).

The annual base salary range for this position is displayed below. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
