We are seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to support the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)/Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Division (RVE) to provide support in cradle to grave efforts. Responsibilities include:
Support full life-cycle technology implementation tasks, including:
Space technology, spacecraft, and high-altitude balloon flight hardware design and fabrication, software/firmware design, and development.
Laboratory research, test and assessment design, technology validation testing and experimentation.
Re-engineering and re-design of software and hardware after testing
Support Hardware/Software-in-the-Loop and Cloud Computing Architecture development and administration tasks including:
Design and development of cloud computing architectures supporting RVE hardware/software-in-the-loop testing environments.
Implementation of cross-domain solutions to move data between different classification levels, external connections, and point-to-point transmissions.
Develop, maintain, and upgrade RVE hardware/software-in-the-loop testing environments.
Qualifications Required:

What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a R&D S&E, Mechanical Engineer to join the Purchased Product Value Stream group. The selected candidate will be the technical interface to product realization teams and the commercial supply base for the design and delivery of mechanical parts/components used in nuclear weapon design, development, and production activities. Senior Mechanical Engineer, Fuels Program Kairos Power is seeking a highly motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in the development and implementation of chemical and physical processes stream related equipment, to support the Kairos Power fuels program. In this role, you will work within an engineering team to design, construct, commission, and optimize performance of the process equipment necessary for TRISO annular fuel pebble fabrication. You will also work cross-functionally with facility operations, facility engineers, quality assurance, and EHS to enable supporting functions.
Responsibilities
* Design, build and test prototype assemblies to demonstrate functionality and performance under prototypic conditions.
* Lead and participate in design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, and operation of First-of-a-Kind (FOAK) equipment supporting KP Annular Fuel Production Systems.
* Monitor equipment performance, recommend and perform design modifications to enhance system reliability based on operational feedback.
* Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintenance documentation to ensure consistent and safe operations.
* Lead and participate in system integration across mechanical, electrical, controls and software teams to deliver seamless, high-performing solutions.

Qualifications

Join the forefront of national security as a highly motivated and experienced R&D Mechanical Engineer with the Ballistic Missile and Air Delivered Tester Development teams. As the premier test equipment engineering capability for the Stockpile Surveillance Program, we play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapon stockpile. On any given day, you may be called on to:
+ Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to distill customer requirements into functional designs, ensuring that all aspects of the product realization process are addressed.
+ Design and implement test bed assemblies that will experience various mechanical environments, including centrifuge and shaker table test environments, as well as explosive containment assemblies (boom boxes).
