Operates CNC Lathe and Mills; has knowledge and able to run multiple machines
Dial in appropriate program for parts to be run from known setting options; must have knowledge of program codes and is able to perform simple program edits; must understand G-Code, M-Code and critical dimensions
Loading / Unloading of parts; performs de-burring of parts
Performs more complex set-ups and tooling change / setting offsets; may receive assistance from Team Lead or Machinist III; expected to know proper collet, tool holders and tool holding techniques > example know the correct depth to ensure tool is stable
Verifies part measurements using measuring tools to include micrometers, calipers, bore gages, height gages, indicators or other measuring equipment
Performs quality audits and all documentation to MASH #2 standards; must assure tolerance levels are held
Detects out of tolerance conditions; reacts by troubleshooting related issues and makes proper adjustments; makes adjustments in response to changing conditions and as indicated by run data
Detects; knowingly expects equipment malfunctions in time to prevent further issues or damage
Performs more detailed preventative maintenance on equipment; examples may include coolant check, startup check list, spin chips, re-cycle coolant
Maintain work area in a safe and lean condition
Maintain 5s requirements
Weekend work (typically Saturdays as required by demand or volume)
Working on holidays as needed (rare but could happen)
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher completed and verified prior to start
One (1) year of experience with precision measuring instruments; read blueprints, manuals, and work instructions.
One (1) year of experience with M-code and critical dimensions in a private, public, government, or military environment
Must be able to work 2nd shift
Applicants meeting the basic qualifications above may be required to take and pass 3M elected testing as part of the selection process.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Possess a Machinist certificate
Twelve (12) months or more experience with operation of CNC lathe/mills

How You'll Make an Impact

Perform various turning, drilling and milling operations on a variety of components. Load/unload components from machines and assist crane operations.
Cross training on other CNC VBM's as required to support area workload.
Reading and interpreting blueprints or computer-aided design (CAD) files
Operating a computer to retrieve, record and read product data and instructions
Calculating dimensions and tolerances with specialized precision measuring tools. Measuring and testing finished products to verify their quality. Tolerances up to .0002”. Cleaning, deburring finished work products. Operating forklifts to move product

What You Bring
High School Diploma or equivalent experience
Technical/formal training is strongly preferred. (i.e., Mechanical degree, Apprenticeship, Certificates). Minimum 3 years of CNC machining experience required or combination of education and experience.
Experience adjusting machine feeds and speeds, changing cutting tools and adjusting machine controls as needed to ensure final product outcome according to blueprint specifications. Have a strong understanding of G-Code & M-Code programming language
Preferred: Siemens 840D controls knowledge

Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types

CNC Multi-Axis Machinist

Team Penske is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to manufacture precision components that support our NASCAR, IndyCar, and IMSA racing programs. This role involves operating 4- and 5-axis CNC machines, programming, fixture design, and ensuring the highest quality standards in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
Responsibilities
Manufacture parts with 4 and 5-axis CNC machines using industry-standard machining techniques and practices while adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Plan machining jobs from work schedules, engineering drawings and CAD.
Work independently to set up and prove out jobs. Adjust speeds, feeds, and EIA code as needed while working closely with programing staff.
Assemble tools and toolholders and set with presetter.
Work independently or with other Machine Shop staff to determine work holding, tool holding, and tools required for jobs.
Design and manufacture fixtures and work holding.
Anticipate tooling and material needs, check inventory, and place orders with supervisor as needed.
Program new parts and modifications of existing parts using Mazatrol as needed.
Manufacture parts using conventional machining equipment (manual machines, saws, etc.) and other CNC equipment as required.
Maintain and update manufacturing information as per company directive.
Maintain safe operations in compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
Perform equipment preventative maintenance as per manufacturer's and Penske Racing's requirements. When necessary, repair equipment and test operation to ensure functionality and performance.
Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly according to Penske Racing standards.
Arrive on time for scheduled work, work overtime and weekends as necessary.
Take ownership and be personally accountable for your work. Be dependable and professional, act with integrity, work effectively with others, take initiative, and be willing to apply new knowledge and skills.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school machining program and / or post-secondary technical school training with earned diploma, certificate, or degreenin machining discipline is highly preferred.
5 years minimum experience operating 4 and 5-axis CNC machining centers or mill-turn machines in a prototyping or low volume / high mix environment. Mazak Mazatrol experience is a plus.
Able to independently setup, prove out and run CNC machines, edit EIA programs, assemble and set CNC tooling, and manufacture workholding fixtures.
Experienced with precision measuring instruments, both digital and analog.
Able to read and understand drawings and specifications with a working knowledge of the Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing system (GD&T)
Possess knowledge of work holding, tool holding, and cutting tools used in CNC working environment.
Possess above average math skills.
Possess basic computer skills.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
Able to adapt to frequent change, delays or unexpected events with a positive and constructive attitude.
Willing and able to work flexible hours due to changing work schedules and demands.
Possess strong English communication skills (oral and written) as it relates to the job.
Able to produce parts to deadlines, accurate to the print and with a quality finish.

**How You'll Make an Impact**
+ **Set up and operate manual machining equipment and perform various machining operations on a variety of parts and components**

**What You Bring**
+ **High school diploma required and preferred associates degree**
+ **4 or more years of experience in manual operations specially in manual machining, setups, tool selection, troubleshooting, metrology, and blueprint reading.**
+ **Basic mathematical skills and proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.**
+ **Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, specifications, charts, and tables.**
+ **Capability to obtain fork truck and crane licenses through Siemens Energy's internal certification programs.**
