Job Description:
The Tool & Die Machinist will perform setup, operation, quality control, and mentorship duties, including:
Machine Operation & Programming:
Set up machinery in a short-run environment.
Make wear off-sets to maintain precision.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of speeds and feed
Maintain a basic understanding of the methods and layout used for part setup and running.
CAD/CAM Proficiency:
Machine parts directly from CAD Models (die design).
Capable of generating programs for line work using Mastercam or Solutionware CAD CAM (training available).
Use the CAD CAM system to generate programs for 3D machining.
Create DXF files out of CAD Models.
Quality Control & Support:
Responsible for independently inspecting products per inspection procedures.
Ability to use various inspection gauges.
Keep a clean and organized work area.
Assist in the design of piece parts for manufacturability.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of tool and die concepts and functions.
Leadership & Teamwork:
Assist in training machine operators.
Guide machine operators to maintain production flow.
Assist in supervising the machine shop when the supervisor is absent.
Assist with other related duties as required or assigned.

Responsibilities
Program CNC mills (3-4 axis VMC) and lathes (2-4 axis) to produce precision parts.
Set up machines for production runs, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
Utilize GD&T to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
Write and modify G-Code and M-Code as necessary for various machining operations.
Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet specifications.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and reduce lead times.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a CNC Programmer and Machinist.
Strong knowledge of GD&T principles.
Proficiency in G-Code and M-Code programming.
Experience with CNC mills (3-4 axis VMC) and CNC lathes (2-4 axis).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certification is a plus.

* Utilize measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions
* Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining tasks, including hand tools and power tools

Position Requirements
* Proven experience with programming, setup, and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes (Mazatrol controls preferred)

* Proficiency in Mastercam or similar for design review and modifications
* Experience with programming for toolpath generation and optimization
* Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining processes, tooling selection, and manufacturing principles
* Ability to use measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines
* Basic math skills necessary for calculations related to machining tolerances and dimensions
