What You'll Do

Qualifications
Required:

Fuse is on a mission to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy. Our core product is TITAN: an Impedance Matched Marx Generator (IMG). TITAN is the most efficient and powerful (TW) machine of its kind. Fusers have also built and licensed 2 novel pulsed power generators.
Each Team member will be intimately familiar with Fuse's machines and will put their mechanical abilities to the test as they assemble them according to the Engineers' exacting specifications. Team members also have to have a deep reserve of problem-solving skills to quickly troubleshoot issues that arise. They usually can't wait to get home to tinker in their shop. They're the people you want to call when something goes wrong.

As a machinist/programmer, you will play a key role in manufacturing TITAN components, ensuring precision and quality in all parts. This position will focus on operating and programming Haas CNC machines, ensuring that all machined parts meet the highest standards required. You will collaborate closely with design engineering to manufacture parts for both prototypes and production, contributing directly to mission-critical projects.
Role
Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, (4 axis, y axis turning), selecting appropriate tooling to ensure precision machining of parts.
Write and edit programs for CNC machines (HAAS) to fabricate components. Optimize machine cycles for productivity and accuracy.
Select and create tooling setups based on part requirements. Use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and evaluate inspection reports from Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM's) to verify the dimensions and quality of parts.
Run multiple CNC machines simultaneously, scheduling jobs effectively to maximize production output without compromising quality.
Work with design engineering teams to help with manufacturability, design considerations, and material suitability. Assist in resolving any non-conformance issues during the machining process.
Maintain accurate documentation of part configuration.
Identify defects during the manufacturing process and write non-conformance tickets to communicate issues and initiate resolution processes.
Procure materials needed for machining jobs as per project requirements.
Assist in training new employees and provide guidance to other machinists in the shop on CNC programming, machining processes, and best practices.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma (or GED) and at least 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in CNC machining
1+ years of professional experience on setup and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes
1+ years of professional experience reading G-code and programming CNC machine
Skilled in using inspection tools such as CMM, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and ensure quality standards are met. Strong understanding of GD&T and its applications.
Familiar with SolidWorks, Fusion CAD/CAM, Mastercam, or other CAM software for part programming and design interpretation.
Possesses a solid foundation in geometric, trigonometric, and practical shop mathematics, enabling the application of fractional, decimal, and conversion calculations to machining processes.
Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance procedures for all machining equipment, ensuring they are easily understood and executable by any qualified technician.
Establish and maintain a detailed maintenance log and a well-organized system for tracking equipment service, repairs, and preventative maintenance, guaranteeing seamless operational continuity.

Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced CNC Prototype Machinist to join our subtractive prototyping team. This individual's role is to setup, operate, program, make fixtures, jigs, test articles, and flight components while collaborating with engineers and other technicians through hands-on experience. You will be responsible for the entire process of CNC operations from start to finish cutting a wide variety of metals and plastics. Responsibilities
Operate mills, lathes, drill presses, saws, grinders, and a variety of other equipment.
Set up, and operate both 3 axis, 5 axis mills and lathes to create complex aircraft components, fixtures, and tooling, from rough stock to finished part.
Determine the best setup, machining strategy, order of operations, tool selection, speed/feed parameters for each project.
Ability to evaluate new tools and dial in speeds and feeds based on machine limitations, material types and tool library.
Ability to shift between jobs when priorities change and communicating with co-workers.
Willing to juggle multiple projects often sidelining some projects to expedite others.
Basic understanding of G code editing.
Demonstrate ability to select, procure, and organize appropriate tooling and fixturing for projects based on part material, geometry, features, tolerances, and system capability.
Collaborate with team members to develop a standardized process for machining, work holding, and set-up to increase efficiency and productivity.
Collaborate with engineers, QC technicians and programmers to provide solutions, feedback or alternative approaches to solve technical manufacturing problems with design and manufacturability of tools and components.
Support engineering activities including prototype development, proof of concept studies, process and assembly validation.
Help develop, draft, and update assembly documentation to guide others in assembly processes, train others as needed.
Perform inspections and measurements of product dimensions using basic Quality Control measuring tools, probing routines, calipers, micrometer, depth gauges, and other measuring equipment.
Demonstrates ability to document and communicate well within the team environment.
Demonstrate continuous improvement of a well-organized and safe environment for all workspaces.
Read blueprints and other design documents as well as interpret verbal design instructions.
Prioritizes quality on completed parts, hold tight tolerances, performs inspection of own parts and can inspect co-worker's work.

Senior Machinist/Programmer
As a Machinist II - IV at Astranis, you will be responsible for programing and machining flight components for Astranis spacecraft, as well as supporting engineering with equipment and prototypes for future projects. Use data from Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMMs) and hand tools to inspect parts and adjust the machining process to deliver conforming parts.
Document builds via Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to control part configuration, document production issues, and keep traceability.
Procure material and tooling for jobs as needed based on requests for parts and scheduled production.
Own start to finish quality and part acceptance adhering to tightly toleranced features and critical characteristics.
Write non-conformance tickets for defects created or found during the manufacturing process.

As a CNC Machinist in our Morgan Hill, CA office you will have responsibility for the assignment planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments for the Vertical CNC Machine.
