Responsibilities:
We are looking for Screw Machinists to join our team. A Screw Machinist will be responsible for setting up and running equipment to produce parts that meet precise specifications for the automotive, medical, electrical industry.
Operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Maintain and repair machine tools and equipment.
Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine the specific operation to be performed.
Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Set up and adjust multi-spindle screw machines such as: Tornos, Acme and Gridley.
Location: Kentwood, MI
Schedule/Shift Details: Third Shift: Sunday-Friday, 8PM-6AM
Can expect about 50 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in machining (2 years or more)
Experience setting up and operating automatic screw machines (single- or multi-spindle, Swiss, or CNC screw machines), including loading bar stock, adjusting tooling, and making offsets.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, including tolerances and basic GD&T
Skilled use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and comparators, along with following documented quality procedures and in-process checks.
High school diploma required

This position reporting to the Tooling Manager, the Tool and Die Maker has a Journeymen license or has completed formal apprenticeship program. Tool and Die Maker builds, repairs, and maintains: dies, fixtures, and all other tooling in conformance to customer and/or company specifications per control plans. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to makes and repairs dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following
Tool and die maker conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; makes adjustments as necessary.
Tool and die maker cuts, shapes, and trims blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rules and hand tools.
Tool and die maker files, grinds, shims, and adjusts different parts to properly fit them together.

Tool and die maker set up and operates conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
Tool and die maker set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.
Tool and die maker smooths and polishes flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.
Tool and die maker studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
Tool and die maker verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
Tool and die maker visualize and computes dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications.
Tool and die maker casts plastic tools or parts, or tungsten-carbide cutting tips, using pre-made molds.
Tool and die maker designs jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.
Tool and die maker develop and designs new tools and dies, using computer-aided design software.
Tool and die maker set pyrometer controls of heat-treating furnaces, and feed or place parts, tools, or assemblies into furnaces to harden.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent education or trade school diploma program
Journeyman Tool & Die Maker and/ or completion of an apprenticeship (4 years) or advanced manufacturing certificate, followed by at least 4 years of on-the-job training
5 years' experience in the trade; emphasis on small precision stampings from progressive dies
An ability to communicate effectively in English both in writing and verbally (Preferred)
Knowledge/ experience with of AutoCAD, Solid works, and EDM (a Plus

What you will be doing
Essential Functions
Assist in the set up, and operate machines with little or no supervision and perform required process checks or inspections per the process documentation
Complete paperwork while adhering to record retention requirements.
Utilizes basic continuous improvement processes to improve operational effectiveness.
Document nonconforming material according to procedures, participate in activities to implement root cause and corrective actions identified.
Adhere to all safety standards, regulations and operating procedures.
Utilize computer programs to enter part data (e.g., serial number), log time, look up instructions and blueprints and download programs.
Utilize work instructions, set-up sheets and method documents to correctly operate machines and inspect machined parts.
Utilize various gauging equipment to ensure conformance to the engineering specifications and standards through the production run.
Clean and maintain measuring instruments and test equipment and inspect parts for cleanliness (e.g., routed and deburring operations). Operate precision inspection equipment and perform first piece check out when applicable to the job.
Interpret and follow blueprints for proper production task completion.
Perform routed operations of precision close tolerance parts.
Other Functions
Communicate information to others about project status, updates, specific instructions, etc. and review item status in MRP to ensure item is logged/closed out appropriately.
Clean and organize the immediate work area.
May perform secondary work functions such as deburring and sub-assembly with certifications, as required. (Does not apply in Duarte.)
May provide training to others in the department when necessary.

Job Title: Tool and Die Maker Apprentice
The Tool and Die Maker Apprentice assists in the construction, maintenance, and repair of stamping dies, fixtures, and other precision tooling while completing a structured apprenticeship program. Under the supervision of experienced journeyman toolmakers, the apprentice gains hands-on experience and classroom training to develop the skills required to become a certified Tool and Die Maker.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the assembly, disassembly, repair, and maintenance of progressive, line, and transfer dies.
Operate basic machining equipment such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, and drill presses under supervision.
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and GD&T specifications.
Perform tasks such as deburring, polishing, fitting, and stoning die components.
Support die tryouts, spotting, and press adjustments as directed by journeyman toolmakers.
Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Record training hours and tasks completed as part of apprenticeship documentation.
Attend and successfully complete all required technical instruction and evaluations.
Communicate effectively with mentors and ask questions to support skill development.
Required Skills and Experience:
High school diploma or GED required.
Enrollment in or willingness to enter a state-certified Tool and Die Apprenticeship Program.
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in precision machining and toolmaking.
Ability to follow directions, work safely, and demonstrate attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of hand tools, measuring instruments, and shop math is preferred.
Good attendance, work ethic, and willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople.
Physical demands:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, bending, and kneeling.
Must be comfortable working in a machine shop environment (noise, grease, metal shavings, etc.).

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to support the department's ability to achieve its goals and objectives. Qualifications

3. Ability to use common measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges (pin, thread, indicator, height), optical comparators and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).

Commercial Tool & Die (CTD), located in Comstock Park, MI is looking for experienced CNC Machinists! The ideal candidates must have experience (3-5+ years) specifically with 3/5 axis programming. We offer shift premiums: 10% for Night Shift and 20% for Weekends!

Primary Responsibilities:
Operate and program the CNC machine to perform cutting
Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
Perform repairs where needed
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines
Qualifications and Skills
Proficient computer skills including the use of MS office
Experience with WorkNC or PowerMill is preferred
Ability to interact effectively with various departments in the organization
Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
Must possess strong work values; Dependability, honesty, self-confidence and a positive attitude
A minimum of 3-5 years of 3/5-axis programming experience
High School Diploma or equivalent is required
