JOB SUMMARY:
The Manual Machinist is responsible for fabrication, modification, and operation of industrial machine tools and parts to precise specifications. The Manual Machinist develops and maintains these tools and parts utilizing knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. You will be familiar with machining on equipment such as: Vertical Turret Lathes and/or Manual Lathes.
KEY TASKS:
Set up and manually machine components and parts for all types of pumps in a custom job shop
Machine to specifications including impellers, wear-rings, bearing housings, covers, and seals
Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches to determine methods of operation
Perform precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping, and fitting with various machinery including horizontal boring mill, vertical boring mill, and ID/OD grinders
Check dimensions of critical components and translate into numerical form using inspection equipment
Evaluate machining procedures to ensure optimal efficiency
Maintain machine tools and equipment in proper operational condition
Comply with Hydro shop safety policies and procedures
Collaborate with Engineers, shop personnel, and other Machinists to troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & OTHER CHARACTERISTICS (KSAOs):

Summary of Responsibility:

What You Will Contribute:
Using a 5 axis Mill turn machine to complete complex parts
Aerospace experience in materials, feeds and speeds, processing and setup is a requirement
Making accurate engineering reports, and interpreting plans and specifications
Developing/ implementing custom demonstrations and training customers in the safe set up and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, or multi-tasking machines
