Machinist Job In Saint Ignatius, MT
is located outside of the United States in Iwakuni, Japan.
Responsible for producing replacement parts and new parts in making repairs of metal parts of mechanical equipment. Interprets written instructions and specifications, planning and laying out of work, using a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments, setting up and operating standard machine tools.
Repairs or fabricates aircraft repair parts and/or special tools.
Reads and interprets Technical Manuals, technical drawings, blueprints, sketches and other written or oral instructions used to repair, fabricate, and manufacture aircraft repair parts and special tools.
Safe operation of manual and automated computerized shop equipment including, but not limited to:
Metal working lathes
Drill press
Grinders
Metal cutting and bending tools and equipment including automated water-jet cutters
Milling machines
Operates various computerized control boxes and various computer software in the operation of various pieces of machinery
Estimates man-hours and materials required to repair or fabricate aircraft repair parts or special tools.
Determines, by using Company provided reports, priority of work to be accomplished.
Orders and maintains authorized stocks of repair parts and other supplies necessary to accomplish job tasks. Maintains supply economy and discipline.
Maintains calibration records and keeps assigned Test Measuring Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) within current calibrations.
Performs and records operator maintenance on all assigned tools and equipment.
Completes maintenance documentation accurately using applicable Maintenance Data Documentation (MDD) system and required forms, as required by job assignment.
Directs incoming and outgoing aircraft to assist pilot's maneuvering of aircraft, using visual hand or light signals.
Operates motor vehicles, machines and special purpose equipment as required by the job assignment.
Performs prescribed cleaning, preservation and operator maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment. Performs housekeeping duties in immediate work area.
When selected, attends schools and classes, which are designated by the Company for employees in the assigned classification.
Uses approved methods and publications in the performance of the assigned job.
Performs the duties of lower classified employees within the line of progression when assigned.
May be allowed to occasionally perform those assignments of employees holding the next higher classification in the line of progression in order to qualify for promotion except for Aircraft Mechanic to Aircraft Technical/NDT Inspector.
Completes and maintains records and reports as required by job assignment.
Demonstrates job procedures and assists in the on-the-job training (OJT) of employees within the classification as required.
Performs imaging technology (scanning and other related) functions as required by the job assignment.
Disposes of hazardous materials related to job assignment.
Performs duties using automated equipment and software utilized in the functional assignments.
May remove and reinstall cowlings, panels, and fairings necessary to gain access to work within his classification.
When assigned to the flight line, provide customer support during launch and recovery and aircraft security as required.
Shall perform other duties as directed to include TDY and travel.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent - General Educational Development (GED) Certificate.
Experience
Three (3) years' experience as a Machinist.
Must have one year (within the past three years) aircraft maintenance experience on 5th generation fighter aircraft.
Must have (1) year corrosion control training and experience.
Experience in ALIS maintenance documentation highly desirable.
Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
Must have a valid state driver's license when required by job assignment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a flight line drivers' license.
Must have current Secret security clearance.
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
Must be physically able to perform duties and responsibilities of the classification. Must be able to work with required materials without debilitating irritation to skin, eyes or respiratory system while wearing the required personal protective equipment.

Welder/Mechanic/Machinist primary duty is maintaining Marion walking draglines and will assist in mobile equipment, and coal processing facilities repair. Must be able to perform welding duties all mine equipment including coal haulers and track type earthmovers. This person must be able to work at heights (i.e. elevated boom point and tri-structure of draglines). Mechanical experience will include working on heavy, open and enclosed gear systems for draglines (i.e. repair and overhaul). Machinist/Millwright experience and the ability to troubleshoot lubrication systems would be desirable assets. Licensed mobile crane experience is desirable. This position requires working multiple shifts and call-out on a 24-hour basis. Work is completed in varying extremes of environmental conditions with exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather.

As a Manual Machinist for IPS, you will identify problems and make necessary adjustments as they relate to industrial AC/DC electric motors and generators. You will use a variety of manual machine tools and balancing equipment for rotating machinery, while following service center safety procedures. You will need to have excellent attention to detail and an ability to work from drawings, sketches and blueprints. Operate conventional manual machining tools to include engine lathes, horizontal lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines, and related equipment
Safely use overhead, gantry cranes, and lift trucks, and associated lift rigging
Perform mechanical measurements using portable mechanical instruments such as dial indicators, micrometers, and portable vibration measurement equipment
Machine and fabricate parts using engine lathes, grinders and drill presses
Draw accurate prints for parts needing to be fabricated
Qualifications and Competencies:
At least 2 years related experience, 6 preferred using manual machining equipment, or equivalent education and experience preferred
Ability to read micrometer measuring equipment
Motor shop, machine shop, tool & die stamping, or oil field experience preferred
Ability to operate manual lathes of various size and dimensions
Ability to operate electro-plating equipment
Ability to work with tolerances of +/- .001
Ability to perform basic math functions

Water Plant Machinist / Fabricator

Nature of Work The Machinist/Fabricator is responsible for maintaining the reliable and functional working condition of the water plant's rotating equipment (pumps, mixers, gear boxes, motors, etc.). Work performed is under the general direction of the Water Treatment Plant Manager or Water Plant Superintendent.
Essential Functions of Work
* Performs rotating equipment maintenance tasks to restore and maintain equipment functionality.
* Ensures site and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) maintenance practices and procedures are being followed and develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for same.
* Rebuilds and repairs pumps and rotating equipment, including precision alignment, pump overhaul, mechanical seal installation, packing installation, packing adjustment, and lubrication.
* Replaces wear components of rotating equipment, such as bearings, seals, and packing.
* Conducts or oversees vibration analysis tasks for major plant equipment.
* Conducts daily plant and system inspections and performs equipment maintenance. Will ensure that maintenance spares are inventoried, and supplies are available prior to work start.
* Works with electrical, and plumbing personnel including utility/relief operators while performing maintenance.
* Submits work requests to the Water Plant Superintendent for plumbing, electrical and maintenance issues.
* Operates and maintains a computerized maintenance program that tracks preventive maintenance and work orders for maintenance personnel.
* Maintains inventory for repairs to include ordering, handing and transporting equipment and parts for maintenance.
* Develops and maintains a strong and effective working relationship with the Water Plant Superintendent, Water Treatment Plant Manager and other plant personnel.
* Maintains safe working environment and post task housekeeping.
* Completes tasks in a professional & efficient manner.
* Maintains assigned tools and plant equipment in proper operational condition.

Education and Experience
* Must have demonstrated experience with water treatment equipment, or similar pumps, synchronous motors, mixers, gear boxes, seals, valves, valve actuators, and a proficient understanding of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical practices.
* Minimum of five years' of experience in water treatment plant maintenance or industrial maintenance.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
* Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain valid Montana driver's license

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position does not supervise other employees; however, will assign and direct the work of other employees or contractors as required and may be required to oversee major work activity for rotating equipment in the event of an outage, site expansion, or major equipment repair.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, large pieces of equipment and vibrations and occasionally exposed to a variety of conditions involving these items. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Employees are issued PPE and are required to follow SOP guidelines to prevent exposure to hazards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. Any scheduled overtime must be authorized prior to working.

Job Summary

Principal Responsibilities
Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices with accuracy.
Work with tolerances to .001" or smaller.
Read blueprints and work from sketches or verbal instructions. Apply shop mathematics and formulas daily.
Perform basic turning, milling, drilling, grinding. Mold tooling components.
Drive a forklift and operate overhead cranes.
Repair, rebuild, and modify existing tooling.
Knowledge of threading is a plus

Rocky Mountain Twist, America's premier twist drill manufacturer located near Ronan Montana in the scenic Mission Valley is seeking an experienced machinist. The candidate should have solid work experience machining various materials, taking a project from a blueprint to a completed part with minimal supervision, in a safe and accurate manner.
The machine shop has 3 CNC Vertical Milling machines, a CNC lathe, a wire EDM, a sinker EDM, various precision grinders, as well as manual lathes, Bridgeport mills and Tracmills. You should have experience with at least one of these CNC systems. We use Surfcam for CAD/CAM programming, in up to 4 axis applications. You will be responsible for developing a plan to fabricate a part, consulting with our Engineering department as needed, program code for the CNC mills, select materials and tools to do the job, make the part and debur it, and verify the accuracy of the finished part. We are capable of in-house heat-treating of most of our workload.
The primary job function is to make replacement parts for the production floor's drill grinding machines and associated equipment. This is typically 1-5 pieces produced, on very rare occasions up to 60 parts.
Critical skills and characteristics include: Mathematics, skills common for shop work, attention to detail, ability to interpret drawings, measure work pieces accurately, pride in work. Responsibility for actions and outcomes, focus on safety for yourself and others around you. Experience working in a machine shop environment, preferably 2+ years after formal school, or 4 without a degree/diploma. Solid work ethic, ability to work and communicate well with others. Ownership of the projects.
Preferred skills include: Programming, CAD/CAM experience, CNC machining experience, tool and die making or a mold making background.
