Primary Function:

About this Role
As a prototyping machinist your focus will be with programming short run and multi-axis parts using NX CAM. Our shop focuses on high-precision, sometimes tricky, low-volume prototype quantity parts. We work primarily in aluminum, plastics, and steel. The ability to quickly and effectively get parts programmed and running on the machines is essential to this job. Familiarity with 3 and 5-axis vertical mills is needed. Experience with manual mill and lathe will definitely help. Experience with a diverse and often urgent-paced team is beneficial. Duties & Responsibilities
Assists Management in leading daily production and provide personnel guidance within the Machine Shop.
Closely collaborate with machinists, programmers, coordinators, planners, Manufacturing Engineering, and Tool Engineering.
Work with production management in scheduling workflow through the machine shop.
Lead or assist in the development of manufacturing new parts.

Lead or conduct first part inspections and conformity inspections as required.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, Associate Degree in Manufacturing preferred.
Eight years or more machining experience plus three years of programming and MasterCam programming experience preferred.
In-depth knowledge of machining, CNC programming, and manufacturing operations.
Practical knowledge in using a variety of hand tools, inspection tools, equipment, manuals, work instructions, drawings and specifications to perform manufacturing activities.
Excellent written and oral comprehension and communication skills.

As a prototyping machinist your focus will be with programming short run and multi-axis parts using NX CAM. Our shop focuses on high-precision, sometimes tricky, low-volume prototype quantity parts. Minimum Qualifications
Level I
High School Diploma or equivalency, Valid Driver's license.
1-2 years of machining experience preferred.
Good written and oral comprehension and communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to read, understand, and use blueprints.

Ability to be good at types of work requiring precision and attention to detail.

Level II

Primary Function:
The Manual Machinist is responsible for manual machining, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently on complex, large-scale projects.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
Perform a wide range of manual machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, reaming, boring, slotting, grinding, and tapping.
Rigorously follow all shop safety procedures and maintain proper use of PPE.
Safely rig, move, and position large and heavy parts using overhead cranes.
Monitor, maintain, and properly use shop tooling.
Read, interpret, and apply advanced-level blueprints, including GD&T.
Inspect and verify dimensional accuracy of workpieces using calipers, micrometers, indicators, profilometers, and other precision tools.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient project execution.
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a manual machinist; 15+ years strongly preferred.
Proven knowledge of rigging practices and safe operation of overhead cranes.
Advanced ability to read and interpret blueprints, with strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and GD&T.
Expert-level understanding of metrology and inspection tools.
Strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and a positive attitude that contributes to a safe, efficient shop culture.
Flexibility to work weekends and overtime as needed.
Capable of standing for extended periods of time.
Work Environment
Shop: Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
