* Implements manufacturing methods using standard production machines, materials, and tooling. May advise and assist with tooling design.
* Makes complex setups, which may include multiple work piece stations, utilizing custom and standard holding devices.
* Develops and defines processes with limited documentation, as required.
* Trouble shoots and resolves machining problems.
* Responsible for machining and checking parts to maintain a high level of quality and efficiency.
* Inspects finished parts for conformance to specifications by visual examination, and utilizes precision measuring instruments such as gages, calipers, micrometers, comparators, and surface plate techniques. May be required to use coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Ensures equipment is calibrated in accordance with schedule.
* Routinely maintains equipment to ensure cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability specific to division requirements.
* Accurately and regularly performs statistical process control (SPC) specific to division requirements.
* Uses advanced shop mathematics, which may include trigonometry, and general knowledge of metal characteristics and other processing requirements.
* Trains and mentors less experienced team members.

Replaces bearings, packing in pumps and valves, shaft seals, sleeves, seats, and other miscellaneous parts used in plant equipment.
Works with apprentice mechanics and skill enhancement employees to teach proper, safe use of tools and maintenance procedures.
Employee must arrange own transportation to work location and may be reassigned to another location at the Company's discretion.

As well rounded machinists and fabricators they are able to select and operate the proper machine shop tools to remove damaged babbitt and prepare the bearing for repair. They may also use raw materials, welding tools, flame spraying, or electrical test equipment to manufacture, alter or test components as part of the process. During the babbitting process they move the part to our custom foundry where they apply new babbitt using various casting techniques. Once the babbitt is cast, their skill at precision machining and metalworking outputs a finished bearing crafted to precise dimensions. Using non-destructive testing techniques and measurement tools they verify the quality and dimensions of their work before preparing the bearing to ship to the customer.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Ability and willingness to be in the shop environment a minimum of 8 hours per day, primarily standing and sitting.
