POSITION DESCRIPTION
Mill/Turn Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and mainitaing CNC lathes equppied with live tooling precise parts manufacturing, requiring blueprint interpretation, quality control, and basic programming knowledge.This role requires attention to detail, a strong understanding of turning operations, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Familiarity with a variety of materials, tooling, and finishing processes is essential for success in this position.
The following essential job functions are performed as a Mill/Turn Machninist:
Setup, program and operate single and mulit-turret CNC lathe machines, often utilizing live tooling capabilities
Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
Knowledge in analyzing and editing G Code programs and canned cycles preferred
Set up turning machines including tooling, fixtures, and materials
Perform various machining operations such as turning, facing, grooving, and threading
Work with extremely close tolerance, fits and assemblilies as needed
Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges
Maintain high-quality standards and exacting tolerances
Monitor machine operations and adjust parameters to ensure optimal performance
Perform routine machine maintenance and assist in minor repairs
Ensure compliance with shop safety standards and 5S practices
Follow AS9100 and Nadcap procedures where applicable
Collaborate with Supervisors and Leads to prioritize production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and FOD-free work environment
Properly execute Hazardous Material Disposal procedures
May support other production cells as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required; technical trade school or college-level machining courses preferred
Two to three years of experience in turning operations may substitute for formal education

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Wage range for this role is between $20 - $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided is Janicki's estimate of the base compensation for this role. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Machinist sets up and operates a wide variety of industrial machines which may include: CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders to machine ceramic parts. Machinists are expected to run 1-4 machines simultaneously and understand all aspects of set up and precision measuring. They may also train other operators and machinists.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and observes CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts machine controls or indicators as required. This includes tool offset adjustments using a variety of controllers (Haas, Fanuc, Okuma etc.).
May measure, mark, and/or scribe dimensions and reference points on parts. Should review technique cards and customer specific work orders continuously for changes.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers to maintain .0005 tolerances.
Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls. Uses proper procedures for editing codes or machine applications.
Documents all instances and circumstances of scrapped parts or machine issues, utilizing proper forms and pass down reports. Communicate effectively with peers on and off shift to ensure continuous effective machine utilization.
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications and completes independent First Article Inspection reports. Read prints and inspect parts for conformance in accordance with ISO 9001. May troubleshoot and review work of other machinists.
Trained on CMM and/or optical comparator. Routinely works with precision measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges to ensure GDT quality checks. May measure parts for operators or less experienced team members.
Reports machine failures, non-conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns and maintenance requests immediately.
Participates in P5S initiatives; keep machinery clean and machine area clear of debris. Address spills, gauges, and sensors immediately.
Performs basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and records. This includes cleaning and checking oil, coolant etc.
Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices. Model and train others on departmental safety procedures, JSAs and directives.
Cross trained on multiple machine types including 3 and 5 axis CNC machines and diamond tooling. Ability to calculate complex dimensions to meet tolerances and apply G and M codes and GD and T. Troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and complete minor machine repairs.
Will work on proto-type parts and new specifications with limited instructions or established procedures. Ability to write, test, edit and troubleshoot programs as assigned.
Communicates and interacts effectively with production management, engineers, and quality team to make departmental improvements. Makes innovative suggestions for improvements.

• Working familiarity with shop planning/tooling

The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Set up manual and CNC equipment with limited supervision.
Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed.
Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gage and other measuring equipment needed to complete work with limited supervision.
Perform first part inspection and in process inspections.
Ensure all documentation is complete and correct.
Detect and report defective equipment, materials and/or faulty operations to supervisor.
