**This role in summary**
This position maintains, troubleshoots and repairs dies, die components, and tooling used in the production process. Manual and CNC equipment and tool room machinery is used regularly. Tool Makers often work in production areas outside of the Tool Room to troubleshoot dies and tooling in presses. Personnel must comply with safety and work rules for the area they are working in, and follow all required safety practices.
This is a 2nd or 3rd shift role.

**Your responsibilities will include**
+ Maintain stamping dies of all types, die components and production tooling, and troubleshoot dies in press.
+ Install and adjust die and tooling components as necessary.
+ Interpret complex detail and component drawings.
+ Produce parts to print tolerances.
+ Maintain production tooling within quality standards.
+ Communicate effectively with operators, set-up personnel, and supervisors on all three shifts regarding tooling requirements, and die and equipment status.
+ Complete all required paperwork, quality records, documents, etc.
+ Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines.
+ Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
+ Filing, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish.
+ Fitting and assembling tools and die parts.
+ Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
+ Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies / molds
**Minimum requirements**
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Completion of State-indentured Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or 10 years equivalent experience.
+ Familiarity with stamping dies of all types
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
+ Understanding of modern punch press principles

Essential Job Functions

Perform a wide variety of duties to diagnose, repair and calibrate machines and equipment to include all mechanical, electrical and electronic components and controls
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Diagnose operating problems on all varieties of regular and complicated machines and equipment. Use voltage meters, ohm meters, phase rotation tester, micrometers, torque wrenches, gauge blocks, precision squares, oscilloscope and laser equipment as necessary for diagnostic and repair/alignment purposes.

Perform necessary millwright duties to install and wire new equipment or to remove old equipment.
Assist Maintenance Mechanical/Electrical B's as necessary to diagnose the more complicated problems and to decide on remedies. Operate fork lift as required to perform duties. May be required to come in during normal off hours to effect emergency repairs.
Follow all lock out/tag out rules and procedures. Maintain area in a clean and orderly manner. Carry out department policies and procedures.

EDUCATION
Requires a thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance duties, knowledge and ability to set up and operate machine tools to produce repair parts and a thorough knowledge of plant equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry and electronic controls as would generally be acquired in a full apprenticeship training plus four to five years of maintenance experience.

This position maintains, troubleshoots and repairs dies, die components, and tooling used in the production process. Manual and CNC equipment and tool room machinery is used regularly. Tool Makers often work in production areas outside of the Tool Room to troubleshoot dies and tooling in presses.
