Responsibilities:
We are looking for Screw Machinists to join our team. A Screw Machinist will be responsible for setting up and running equipment to produce parts that meet precise specifications for the automotive, medical, electrical industry.
Operate manual and automated machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.
Maintain and repair machine tools and equipment.
Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, or technical orders to determine the specific operation to be performed.
Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
Set up and adjust multi-spindle screw machines such as: Tornos, Acme and Gridley.
Location: Kentwood, MI
Schedule/Shift Details: Third Shift: Sunday-Friday, 8PM-6AM
Can expect about 50 hours per week.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in machining (2 years or more)
Experience setting up and operating automatic screw machines (single- or multi-spindle, Swiss, or CNC screw machines), including loading bar stock, adjusting tooling, and making offsets.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, including tolerances and basic GD&T
Skilled use of precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and comparators, along with following documented quality procedures and in-process checks.
High school diploma required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Includes, but may not be limited to the following

Tool and die maker set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly.
Tool and die maker smooths and polishes flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery cloths, or power grinders.

Skills and Competencies
Tool and die maker ability to read tool and die designs and prints
Tool and die maker basic shop math and trigonometry

5 years' experience in the trade; emphasis on small precision stampings from progressive dies
An ability to communicate effectively in English both in writing and verbally (Preferred)
Knowledge/ experience with of AutoCAD, Solid works, and EDM (a Plus

Moves controls to set feeds, speeds, and depth of cut, and to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, verifying position visually, with instruments, and by reading dials
Starts program and observes operation, making one or more trial parts to verify program.
Verifies dimensions of machined work piece with such measuring instruments as micrometers, telescoping gauges, vernier calipers, and dial indicators. Works to close tolerances.
Uses precision positioning devices such as dial indicators mounted on machine troughs with standard length rods and work to close tolerances
Operates machine with automatic positioning controls
Lays out reference lines and machining locations on work piece, according to blueprints
CNC programming using Mazatrol and Fanuc G code utilizing Visi Software
Requirements:
Journey Machinist or 3 to 5 years of experience as skilled machinist or successful completion of the apprenticeship program.
Mechanical skills and aptitude.
Blueprint reading interpretation.
Communicate effectively and get along with fellow employees.
Basic Math and Reading skills. Knowledge of highspeed carbide tooling.
Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment while complying with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations
Ability to safely operate an overhead crane and forklift
Owns tools, measuring devices and small hand tools.
Must be a self-starter and dependable worker.
