The Post Plant is an essential operation of Madison Wood with shifts starting as early as 5am and work weeks consisting of as many as 48 hours per week. Posts are manufactured through manual labor and the use of proprietary equipment as well as heavy machinery, such as wheel loaders, knuckle boom, and or forklifts. This position offers the opportunity to operate equipment, though not guaranteed. The ability to perform manual labor is essential. The Maintenance Technician will also assist with general facilities maintenance as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in expanding their skills and advancing into specialty maintenance positions, including fabrication, industrial electrical work, and diesel mechanics. Key Responsibilities: Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on stationary and rolling equipment (e.g., forklifts, loaders, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, chains) to ensure optimal performance and safety. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, and implement effective solutions. Ensure all machinery and tools are in proper working condition and meet safety standards. Notifies Production and Maintenance Supervisors of any problems and improvement opportunities. Assists and trains other maintenance personnel as required. Performs all maintenance tasks required within their grade level. Understands and performs Work Order processes. Ability to operate fork truck, man lift or other equipment. Move to the production department all approved and correct materials to be used in the production process. Assist the Supervisor(s) in preparing daily work scheduling and parts purchasing as necessary. Complete appropriate documentation & logbook entries as required. Assist the Supervisor(s) in preparing Maintenance History Records and other documentation as needed. Work overtime as required. Perform any other duties as requested by the Supervisor(s). Comply with all Plant rules and regulations. MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Basic Arithmetic skills in adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals without a calculator, practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions, logarithms, practical algebra, geometric constructions, and essentials of trigonometry. 5-7 years' experience related to this position in high speed manufacturing such as in the pharmaceutical, consumer products, food and/or medical device industry. Must be shift flexible to work various hours and shifts as needed, especially during large projects, installations, etc. PREFERED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Technical degree/accreditation preferred. Journeyman's card in a specialized trade is a plus. Prefer knowledge & ability to use machine shop equipment KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to follow instructions and exercise good judgment.
