Duties
This position serves as Mailroom Clerk for the Medical Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System. As a Mail Clerk you will be responsible for the overall mail systems operations. The principal duties of this position include the following main components: Incoming Mail, Outgoing Mail Distribution, Controlled Mail, Training, ADP security, and Facility Reproduction program. The Mailroom Supervisor and Lead plans work to be accomplished by subordinates; sets and adjusts short term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work based on priorities;
* Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production;
* Provides guidance and evaluates work involving new, complex or unusual situations and those without clear precedence;
* Resolves technical difficulties involving the mail machines, computers, and other equipment utilized in the Mail Center.
* Ensures the security of mail, which includes mail at high risk for theft such as controlled pharmaceuticals, prosthetics devices, cash, and checks
* Analyzes and resolves difficult issues and problems in order to plan effectively and render equitable and reliable decisions;
* Ensures availability of recurring supply items which are managed and distributed through the computerized inventory management system;
* Maintains reproduction equipment and supplies, resolves technical problems, is responsible for quality of the product and ensures that only high-volume requestions are produced.
* Works with members of the vendor and/or contract community, managers, supervisors and other staff throughout the medical center on Logistics issues; and
* Communicates with staff and other administrative and clinical staff to coordinate and persuade logistics activities on the implementation of policy or procedural changes.
* Drives to drop off mail at local post office as need or as a daily duty.

The Occupancy Clerk greets applicants, tenants, and other visitors with a helpful and friendly attitude. The Occupancy Clerk assists in performing moderately difficult clerical tasks in keeping financial accounts and records, and in receiving cash payments according to Housing Authority practices. The Occupancy Clerk collects and records rental payments and assists with tenant recertification. The Occupancy Clerk assists in maintaining tenant files, waiting list of applicants, and other tenant-related duties. The Occupancy Clerk will be responsible for obtaining all necessary verifications needed to process applications and to update tenant files. This individual must be certified as a Public Housing Manager within one (l ) year from the date of employment.
**Job Duties:**
Duties of the Occupancy Clerk will include, but not be limited to, the following activities:
- Takes and processes applications for apartments, updates tenant files, and maintains waiting lists and transfer lists.
- Obtains all verifications of tenant data as required.
- Assists with all related correspondence between Housing Authority, applicant, tenant, employers, and other outside agencies.
- Collects payments of rent and other charges and maintains tenant ledger accounts.

- Prepares daily and/or monthly reports as required.

- Handles and refers incoming calls as needed.
